Dev Log #38 - Pre-release week update!

Hi all! The alpha release is just one week away and I can't wait for you guys to get your hands on the new update. A continuation to E1P1, E1P2 looks to close out Episode 1 of Cara in Creekmaw.

All coming together
It has been a rather busy week as I have been putting all the pieces together for the game as well as writing up a storm and finishing up on the renders. I'm pleased with the progress so far and I can't wait to kick it up a notch over the weekend as I plan to finish a good chunk of what's left on my plate including rendering before moving on to game development and piecing the last bits together.

Progress so far
In terms of rendering progress, I have completed the main bulk of work on the major scene of Day 7, with a bit of touching up to do. Once the major scene is to my satisfaction, I will be moving to the final minor scene left to render, and close the book on the render work of E1P2.

On the game development front, I have been spending time writing the dialogue for all scenes of Day 6 up till the final scene of Day 6. I will continue this momentum heading into Day 7, and complete the bulk of the dialogue over the weekend.

Journal entries have also been written for new characters as well as existing ones, with mysteries having a healthy dose of additions, with some already added to the game and finalized. I will be looking to finish writing these journal and mystery entries over the weekend too and have them implemented at various checkpoints of the game!

What's left?

  1. 1 minor scene of Day 7 and touching up of recently completed major scene.
  2. Dialogue remaining is for 1 scene for Day 6 and all of Day 7.
  3. Gameplay elements:Journal entries are half complete.
Mini-game integration with finalized renders will be done after rendering concludes.
Phone sections at 2 specific points in the game.

With almost 95% of the rendering done, I plan to finish that section strong and then it would be time for me to put on my writer's cap as I conclude the episode, integrate the mini-game with the renders as well as write the remaining journal entries and mysteries.

Of course, as I'm busy writing and coding, I will also be on the lookout for bugs and other strange oddities and I'll be fixing those as well so the playtesting and debugging process can be all the more smoother before E1P2's release next week!

That's it for the updates this week! It is a bit on the short side this week as I return to development, where I'm aiming to finish strong in all aspects and deliver a stable game!

I tend to say this a lot and I mean it all the time but: I'm very thankful for everyone's support, whether it may be big or small and I'm always appreciative of you, the person reading this. Thank you and see you all next week!

Stay safe and stay healthy!
