After Thor said he wished he could trust Loki, Loki said under his breath, "Trust my rage." In other words, Thor could trust that Loki *did* want revenge for their mother's death and wasn't faking that. Not only had he truly loved her, he had not been allowed to attend her funeral. His pain is very strong. Loki is a trickster god and will always be a trickster. It is his nature. He's not all evil, though most of what he does is self-serving and his methods are quite questionable, but he has his good moments, too. He has trickster powers, such as powerful illusions. He's one of my favorite villains across both Marvel *and* DC because of his complicated and chaotic personality. You should check out the series Loki on Disney+. The first season has wrapped, and the second season is filming and won't be out for awhile, which gives you a chance to binge the whole first season.
