Loved your reaction. It was so worth coming to Patreon to finish the series. I loved that no matter how much you loved Dany, you understood that she had to die for the greater good. You didn't have blind loyalty with her and I appreciate that. So many ppl have tried to justify her actions just cuz they were fans of her. It was the same writers for the whole show. The writers thought they were getting a job to work on a star wars franchise so they they just rushed through the last 2 seasons. HBO gave them the go ahead to run this to at least 10 seasons. They were let go of the Star Wars job after the results of this season...

This season was BRUTAL because it was rushed and they didn't use the same writers as previous seasons, and there was no source material for it. I mean the White Walkers were coming for SOOOO many seasons and the battle was ONE EPISODE. They RUINED Dany's character so they could justify her murder and the whole thing just SUCKED. Emilia Clarke read the script multiple times, went on a 5 hour walk and cried when she read found out Dany's fate and I don't blame her! She put so much into her character and her character deserved better than a lazy villain arc.

As time has gone on, I've come to appreciate the first three episodes of the season despite its lighting issues. I'm not even that upset of the final conclusion of the various story arcs. However, the last three episodes needed probably another season for those ideas to be fleshed out more to narratively work. I'm glad House of the Dragon got back to the writing that made the first six seasons of Game of Thrones really good. I hope Leo watches House of the Dragon before season two comes out.

Joined your Patreon so I could finally watch you finish GoT. My first issue with season 8 was that I really thought the Night King deserved two episodes. Or at least 1 and a half. It's supposed to be the biggest columniation for the series and they take him out in one episode. And honestly in the grand scheme of things very few meaningful characters died in the battle. I mean think about how many have died in older seasons, the fact so many made it out of this fight despite being show totally swarmed felt a little too fan servicey. But I didn't dislike that episode as much as most of the internet did lol. I generally liked it. But dude I'm about to watch you watching the REST of the season and I'm really curious if you'll have the same reaction as most people. I thought they casual viewer wouldn't care, but nearly EVERYONE was unhappy.

Ep 3 was special... People hated it when it released because of the darkness but you brightening it up actually took a little away from what you might have experienced tbh. That's why they needed the Lord of Light early on to start so many flames. As a viewer that darkness left you truly frightened and wondering what was around the next corner... Game of Thrones is probably the best show ever made. Even the latter seasons can't ruin that. George RR Martin is an amazing writer too. Check out Sandkings from him. Really unique interesting story.

Re-watching the finale, without the disappointment of the first time, really allowed me to enjoy it and appreciate it in a different way. As another subscriber said, "I got series finale depression all over again" lol. Saying goodbye to characters you're so invested in is kind of sad. All in all, whether I got the finale I wanted or not, I would go on the GOT ride ALL over again, this show is great.

Entitled and delusional was a bit far. She doesnt care about the Throne for the power of it, she only wanted it because her whole family was massacred, it was always about revenge and a means to an end, i dont blame her for not knowing how cruel her father was tho, and in her journey to that throne she became ruthless to those that would seek to impose their will just because they wanted to, hence stopping the dothraki from raping, and ending slavery in the east. We were blinded because we spent a really long time of her fighting for the right reasons. The showrunners straight up took a sharp turn into making her crazy.. Like i believe it was the span of an episode or two, that she went from saying "Other kingdoms can ask for freedom if they want to" to saying that Jon NEEDED to "bend the knee"....

I feel like one of the main things people miss is GRRMs serious anti war stance. He's stated this. One huge overlying theme in GoT, is a balance of power. Imagine if Iran or N Korea, were the ONLY countries in the world with nukes, and unstable leaders who had their finger on the button. And, everytime a city wouldn't bow to them, they nuked them. (I mean maybe that depends on the city, but... 🙃) And, there's always going to be a few people who applaud them. Feeding their egos. The dragons are the WMD's of GoT. And, as people in power gain more and more power, they usually become tyrants. Megalomaniacs - feeding off their own power.

Anyways let's forget this mess lol, I highly recommend you watch Chernobyl, it's a miniseries of just 5 episodes that actually aired on HBO too at the same time as season 8 of GoT (probably as an apology lol) and I think it's the best TV series ever made. It's so shocking and so good.

Well, there it is. I definitely feel your disappointment at that ending. Daenerys' ending was absolutely ridiculous. The idea that she had been evil and ruthless all along is absolutely stupid, because the people she had been killing were either slavers (the most evil criminals) or soldiers at war aka people who signed up to die. Tyrion also killed soldiers with wildfire but no one called him evil. Jon's ending is even more ridiculous because at the end, everything he's gone through meant absolutely nothing. His resurrection meant nothing, he didn't kill the night king or even become the king of Westeros, his parentage didn't benefit the plot at all. Bran said he doesn't want any political power then all of a sudden agreed to become king. Arya had insane plot armor. Tyrion all of a sudden became very dumb; the biggest army on the planet with 2 dragons got ambushed by stupid Euron who talks exclusively about dicks when dragons are supposed to have armor-like scales so they're immune to weapons. All in all, the lazy writing ruined one of the biggest and greatest pieces of media ever made.

I did stay up all night and watched the whole thing, it was slightly less terrible watching with you Leo but as you will find out it was one of the most hated series finales ever ever, people were so upset, and for good reason. They ruined all the characters in particular Khaleesi by having her become a mad queen overnight, makes zero sense, it was all terribly done because the writers had to come up with their own ending as the final book in the series is not out yet (ten years I think and still waiting?). So so disappointing. Thought I’d never ever watch season 8 again, but it wasn’t so bad with you. Oooooof. Thank god that’s done. As others have said, really recommend: Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood, and Six Feet Under. My personal recommendations: one season only each, The Haunting of Hill House and please please try Station 11 on HBO 🙏🙏🙏

Just wanted to chime in that the Arya scene always makes me super uncomfortable too, although I would have done the same thing. It was awesome to experience the show again with you. I think it would be amazing if you watched mr.robot. it has a wild in depth feel in a way like game of thronhes. I personally think it's over all a better show. I see a ton of people asking you to watch there shows. Hope you check it out.

Rewatching Season 8 with you helped me like and better appreciate the entire season and the ending. It was still rushed, should of had more episodes, etc, shit lighting and writing, but I honestly think it was over-hated because viewers didn't understand that this is a Tragedy drama, it was never meant to have a "happy" ending. Could've been executed better tho. Thanks for the ride, Leo.

Also you arent crying like a girl, youre crying because this damn show had such good character development and you grew attached to those that you loved and knew were good people so youre crying like any human with a heart. Oh Leo, I feel so bad for you(and many other men🤣). You never even noticed how she used men all along. Dario, who fought like hell to protect her. She left him in the free cities, bc he had nothing to offer her towards the throne. Khal Drogo. She needed him to get her throne. So she learned how to manipulate him with sex. When he died she was afraid she'd lose the Dothraki. Sir jorah- loved her and betrayed her. Tyrion- Loved and betrayed her. Jon- loved and betrayed her. Varys- betrayed her, but was the only one who she killed. Bc she couldn't manipulate him.She didn't need him for anything. ("Men do stupid things when they're in love. They're easily manipulated" - Sansa.) She didn't " liberate" the Unsullied. She needed the army.

I really enjoyed the 7th season despite the hate and while 8 has great cinematic moments, I hated the direction the writing went. So many characters were built up for 6-7 seasons and then their arcs went in opposite directions of where a lot of people think they should have. Either way this has been one helluva journey with you. I'm glad you enjoyed it, for all it's hurt and joy. Masterpiece of a series and still could have been better if the directors weren't so adamant about finishing up in time to direct Star Wars, that's what's so mind-blowing to me. It's considered to be the best by many even with an ending that leaves the viewers with a bitter taste in their mouths. Very few series touch that level but I think the first two seasons of TWD, 4 of the 5 seasons of Breaking Bad and 5 out of 7 seasons of Sons of Anarchy are peak TV as far as impact, shock and reach go. Just my opinion. I know the Sopranos and The Shield with Michael Chiklis are said to be outstanding as well but both were a bit before my time. I still need to sit down and get into those myself along with OZ. My great Aunt has been telling me to watch it for over 10 years now 😂

There’s Stranger Things which is very popular and you can even get caught up before the new season drops. Or a really good show one of my favorites is “The Boys” it’s comparable to Invincible but it’s not animated. You probably never heard of the show Snowfall it’s really good underrated af.
