Walt has the Clark Kent going for him at this point. Hiding in plain sight is the most useful disguise. In real life, a lot of serial killers get away with it because they're so normal in appearance and routine that nobody can comprehend them doing horrible things. Gale is the perfect patsy because of his educational background and has an extremely plausible backstory that would be believable by anyone in law enforcement. Hank is a great detective that put the pieces together long before others in law enforcement did. He isn't a "noob". The timeline of this series is only two years and Hank put together the pieces in around half that time. In normal circumstances it would have taken law enforcement probably years to make a dent in the case. We saw it earlier this season where another agent essentially handed off the Gale murder case to Hank because it was a dead-end case for that agent.

2024-08-22 11:03:08 +0000 UTC26:30 is kind of sad. Sure, the video of Gale is kind of hilarious but it's also a sign society lost a great mind. What could have Gale accomplished for humanity if put towards the right path and his knowledge was respected? Gale probably gravitated towards Gus because Gus actually respected his intelligence and he wasn't just another cog in the machine like he would have experienced in a corporate or government entity.
