I’ll give it a heart but I can only watch this movie so many times a decade. I’m at my limit already LoL. Not ready to cry yet. Now if you pull out “A Time to Kill”, dammit I’ll buy the popcorn and whatever plants necessary.

Love this movie it was one of my favorites when it came out,I don't care how many times I watch it I always break down crying when shug sings God is trying to tell you something.

Laticia Rhim-Davis

Helluva great f**king heavy movie. Thanks for that reaction.

ChickensAreRacist

into a whole different movie with his musically stylings. Whoopi and others had said so many were against the film. The naacp rallied against it. It was Whoopi’s first film. So crazy bc I remember her on comic relief. When I thought of Whoopi it was her , Robin Williams, and billy crystal all being crazy asses.

Oh I know. I saw this when I was like 7 and it has remained my favorite movie since 1987. The free play is really hood but Quincy jones really turned it up

It’s crazy how this video get less views/ likes unlike other films but has 11 Oscar nominations.

Gooood damn. Miss. Millie's so horrible, hahaha. What a bitch! Just rewatching that scene again with Oprah as I'm typing this. Plus, yeah that's Oprah! I remember not realizing that when I first saw this movie, wondered if you realized that since I don't think you brought it up. The actress(who plays Miss. Millie) is so good though, she's in The Adams Family too, and she's great at playing odd, clueless, fish out of water type characters. Young Whoopie is honestly so cute in this film. I always thought she was cool when I was a kid cause there's a movie from the 80's where she's riding up the Golden Gate Bridge wire on a Motorcycle. I've never even seen the movie, but always thought it was a cool image whenever I'd walk by the movie in VHS stores. I'd seen this movie before in full, but I was a bit too young even as an older teenager to understand the relationship dynamics and take in all the dialogue. There's actually more comedy in this movie that I forgot about too. Also, I miss seeing Danny Glover in movies. Just saw a picture of him at the beach recently reminding me of my stepdad before he passed away. When strong good men get old I now have an urge to want to help them because there was MORE I should've done to get my stepdad healthy.

I have such appreciation for this film. It came out in 1985. I watched it with my mother and sister on VHS, probably around 1987. I was 7 years old, and I remember thinking it was long, but I also remember many of the parts that changed my view on a story. It was at times hard to watch, and emotionally upsetting, but at other times so uplifting. It was probably the first time I really understood acting. I hated Danny Glover, and loved Whoopi and Oprah. And it had to be explained that I hated Albert and loved Sofia and Celia. It was probably the first film I saw that focused on a Afrocentric story. I am a white boy, living in a white community, and I saw this film at a really young age. Racism was pretty prevalent. I remember many peers making fun of the movie, I remember saying I saw it and liked, and I remember being mocked for that opinion. And then somehow succumbed to that pressure and decided that the movie sucked. I never believed that, I just found it easier to agree. Seeing it years later as a teen, I realized “shit, this is a good movie! Why did I let others convince me otherwise?”. This film highlighted the concept of racism to me, despite it not really being about racism at all. It was a good story, people made it about racism. It opened my eyes to watching more serious films, and more complicated subject matter amongst many other things. I hadn’t thought this much about it in a while. Thanks for letting me join you Leo.

Thank you for this reaction. I could feel all of your emotions, especially your outrage about the dad. You are my favorite reaction channel hands down.

Hell of a movie. Thanks again Mr. Video

Man that was a good reaction, after an emotional movie it's only right to get a reaction to The Raid: Redemption or Dead Alive(1992)to balance it out.😏

Cuz Im SteveOh

Powerful movie...and an important one. Good choice Leo! 🖤 (coughFear&LoathingInLasVegascough)
