As A-Train he gets the respect that Supes get, especially as one of the 7. He also needs to keep being the fastest to stay in the 7. But without that, to everybody else he’s just another black man in America. Being on the 7 means a pass to not be hit by racism. That’s why he’s so desperate to stay in the 7. Why he’s willing to do anything.

Thus no worries about the show getting something "wrong" or whatever, lol. What I will say about what happened in the comics is that Becca (or Becky) is very truly dead, and the incident surrounding it was way, WAAAY more traumatizing for Butcher, and probably why they had to change it for the show. So the S1 ending was a huge "WTF?!" moment for me and I wondered where the writers were gonna take it!

2023-08-14 04:47:17 +0000 UTCWoot! Here we go, the finale! In a nutshell: 1) Teddy could not have been the child that Becca had because the assault had taken place about 8 years ago. Teddy is just an infant and is, for all we know, actually Stillwell's biological son. Whether or not Homelander is Teddy's father is....a matter of debate and open to interpretation, so just go with however you feel about it. He and Stillwell were having some kind of bizarre relationship, so of course it's possible. 2) The critical mistake Stillwell had made was when Homelander's head was on her lap and she said that his child by Becca had died of a MISCARRIAGE. Vogelbaum had originally told Homelander that it had been an accelerated, unnatural pregnancy, Becca died during childbirth, and the baby was deformed and clawed its way out and also died. So their stories didn't mesh. 3) When Homelander returned to Vogelbaum and "squeezed" the truth out of him (which we didn't get to see), he learned that Becca AND Homelander's son survived the birth 8 years ago, and then he must have learned where they were stashed. Which is where he took Billy before the blast could kill him. 4) As of this moment in time, we do not know if Teddy was killed in the blast or not, or if Teddy is/was also Homelander's son or not. They've made a mention before that it's "unprecedented" for a supe to have children, but that always puzzled me, as apparently Translucent had a child. Though of course, we don't know if Translucent's child was bio or adopted. The comics may have more detailed explanations; I've not read them.
