He is doing what *he* wants to do for himself because he is a psychopath and enjoys causing pain and suffering. He loves killing; he is literally a serial killer. And not the kind you can sort of understand their motivations, like Dexter. Homelander is pure evil, LOL. But the actor? He's awesome! He really goes for it in playing Homelander. I agree, Homelander is a great part of the series, no matter how much we hate him as a person. :p
