There’s something I forgot to mention in my previous column: there’s actually an advantage to not liking Dragon Ball or One Piece.

That is, "it’s easier to get off to fan-made works of shows you don’t care about."

Everyone has their preferences, but for me, if I get even slightly invested in a series, I can’t enjoy its fan-made content.

No matter how sexy it is, if the character is acting out of character, it just kills the mood for me.

But if it’s a character from a series I haven’t watched, I’m fine with whatever they do.

So, the endless supply of fan content for Jump series is definitely a perk. For example, I’m totally into Iwao-sensei’s Orihime-focused BLEACH series, Ishigaki Takashi-sensei’s Nobara with weak anal scenes, although it is a social game, Ankoman-sensei’s Fate series centered around Astolfo.

However, there are some exceptions, and I can think of two patterns right now.

The first is when the unique style of the doujin artist is extremely prominent in their work. A specific example would be "Chinchintei"

Even if it’s a Touhou Project fan work, the art, story, and dialogue all distinctly reflect "Chinchintei's" style. The desire to enjoy "Chinchintei's" work can be fulfilled, no matter how much I’ve been immersed in the original series.

Another case is when the original work is heavily influenced by "adult circumstances." Specific examples would be the "Pretty Cure" and "Pokémon" series.

In creative works, there's a saying that "the characters move on their own," which happens because the characters have a well-defined personality. For example, you'd think, "Hiei wouldn't say that." However, these two series are aimed at children and seen by many, so their expression and characters are restricted. In other words, the characters are already being personality-raped by adults from the start. This makes fan creations all the more fulfilling.

Of course, there are exceptions even here. For instance, fan creations of "HeartCatch Pretty Cure!" are a no-go for me.

Though it’s just a personal opinion, that series had clearly defined personalities.

Another example from the Pretty Cure series, but for different reasons, is "Hugtto! Pretty Cure" which also doesn't work for me. It’s not because it was unpopular. There’s a clear progression from "Sailor Moon" to "Revolutionary Girl Utena" to "Hugtto! Pretty Cure" and it evokes too many emotions for me to get into it.

Anyway, in my case, there’s a certain advantage to not liking popular works. Today, I’m going to use 38-sensei’s Blue Archive series.

以前のコラムで書き忘れたことがあって、それはドラゴンボールやワンピースが別に好きじゃないことにもメリットがあるってことです。

それは「好きじゃない作品の方が二次創作は抜ける」です。

これは人によって我流があると思いますが、わたくしはちょっとでも入り込めた作品は多くの場合二次創作に寛容になれません。

どんなにエロいモノでも「このキャラではこうはならんやろ」「〇〇はそんなこと言わない」となって心のちんぽがふにゃちんです。

見てない作品のキャラならおっぱいがどんなに盛られていようが設定と違うアホみたいな発言しようが全然にギンギンです。

なのでジャンプ作品って無限に二次創作が生まれてくるので全くオカズに困らないってのは完全にメリットですね。いわお先生の織姫を中心とするBLEACHシリーズやイシガキタカシ先生のアナルが弱い釘崎、ソシャゲですがあんこまん先生のアストルフォを中心としたFateシリーズなどなどなどはガッツリギンギンですね。

ただ、少なからず抜ける方で例外もあって、今思いつくのでいうと２パターンあります。

まず一つはその同人作家の作家性が極端に出ている作品です。具体例をあげるなら、「ちんちん亭」ですね。

いくら東方シリーズの二次創作であろうが、作画もストーリーもそしてセリフ回しも"ちんちん亭"になっています。"ちんちん亭"で抜きてぇんだよ！ という欲求はそれがどんなにわたくしが入り込んだことのある作品の二次創作でも満たしてくれます。

もう一つは、その一次創作作品にすこぶる"大人の事情"が入っている作品です。具体例をあげるなら、「プリキュアシリーズ」と「ポケモンシリーズ」ですね。

創作において「キャラが勝手に動く」なんて言葉がありますが、それはちゃんとそのキャラクターに人格があるからです。このキャラならこの場面では絶対こうするはずだ、飛影はそんなこと言わないとなるのですが、その２シリーズは子供向けであり多くの人が目にするが故にその表現やキャラクターに制限があります。つまり、最初からその大人たちに人格レイプされている状態なんですね。そんなの二次創作がはかどります。

勿論それすらも例外が合って、『ハートキャッチプリキュア』との二次創作はふにゃちんです。何処まで行っても個人の感想なのですが、あの作品は明確に人格を感じた作品でした。

プリキュアからもう一つ、違う理由から『Hugっと!プリキュア』もふにゃちんになります。そもそも不人気だからって理由ではありません。あれは直近でも『セーラームーン』→『少女革命ウテナ』→『Hugっと!プリキュア』という明確な流れがある作品なので色んな感情があふれて勃たなくなります。

何せ、わたくしの場合は有名作品が好きじゃないことにこういうメリットがあったりします、という話でした。今日は38先生のブルアカシリーズを使います。
