Dev Log #79 - A massive opener!
Added 2024-06-07 22:00:09 +0000 UTCHi all! With the development of Episode 3 fully underway with several finer details of the opening ironed out, I want to share several details of what I have been working on (with as few spoilers as possible) as well as what to expect in the early preview that I'm currently targeting for mid-to-late July!
Why the early preview?
With Episode 3's scale and scope expanding beyond that of Episode 2, there is a pressing need to make sure that some of the 'big' areas in the episode are relatively bug-free and void of any major issues.
With free roam generally being a hit-or-miss, this early preview is mainly to ensure that the few major issues faced in the past (i.e. phone issues, progression blockers) are non-existent or as few as possible.
I'm also planning to add objective hints to guide players through the free roam, which can be toggled on or off depending on how you wish to experience the game!
What is in this early preview?
The full opening free roam will be complete, bringing with it scenes that continue to preserve all of your in-game choices and allow you to make new ones. Variation is the name of the game, with almost every scene having a different, alternate version. After all, Cara's story is yours to write.
As there is about a month and a half of time from now till mid-to-late July, I will also try to squeeze in any content that comes after the opening free roam; provided that the story and visuals are up to par with what I expect (i.e. I have confidence in its quality and that it isn't something I'll u-turn on or is not finalized).
Who will be able to play the early preview?
This preview will be available to everyone who is supporting the game! I am of the mind that as long as you are a supporter of Cara in Creekmaw you should be able to get access to this preview, regardless of tier, as I don't think it's particularly nice of me to segregate who gets to play depending on one's tier.
At the same time, I do want to give benefits to those who are contributing more by releasing it to them first. With that said, all First-Rate and above subscribers will receive the Early Preview first, followed by Supporters and Donators two weeks later!
As always, the timeline mentioned above is more of an estimate than a confirmation. In other words, I will work to ensure everything is ready and decently polished before releasing and I thank you all for your understanding on this!
