Hey guys! I wanted to share the new "standard shader ball" USD asset which is part of the USD initiative. It is meant to be used in your tools to best represent shaders for USD/MatX across tools. I thought this would be great to share with you all. It is a very nicely made shader ball with some important design considerations. The example image above and GitHub explain some of the shader ball concepts.
From a practical usage point, this shader ball is nice and well made + covers all the general situations for tests you would need to visualize the material. In particular, the SSS/Refraction side can be tricky on poorly made shader balls. The extra added bubbles + "depth checker" inside help for SSS/Transmission/Scatter shader checking. This asset is free to distribute, and edit. An excellent asset to lookdev your shaders on. Enjoy!
