Status Update and Roadmap

Hey guys,

I just wanted to post an update of what's been happening with House Party's development, and give you some insight of what to expect in the next couple of months.

First thing's first, we've got a tentative GameJolt and Steam release date.  As of right now, the GameJolt launch is planned for 6/17/17, and the Steam launch will be a week later on 6/24/17.  The version that will be released on both of these platforms will be version 0.6.2, which is due out to beta testers this week.

For those of you wondering about the difference between supporting me on Patreon or buying the game on Steam or GameJolt, here's the scoop:

Alpha and Beta testers are still going to be receiving game versions long before they hit Steam.  What will happen is; when the Steam version becomes available, I will no longer release free versions of the game.  Free versions tend to be versions that have already been put through the ringer by Alpha and Beta testers, and of course we will have the same testing process before releasing to a major platform like Steam, so Alpha and Beta level supporters will still have all of the same perks and benefits that they are getting now including walkthroughs, which will not be released at all on any of the aforementioned platforms.  They will typically be receiving new versions of the game one to two months before they release on GameJolt/Steam.  In fact, GJ/Steam releases may actually be much less frequent than one month apart because if there are any outstanding bugs, they will need to be resolved and tested before moving to either of those platforms.   So if anything, Betas and Alphas will be receiving new builds way sooner and more frequently than GameJolt and Steam will be getting them.  The people who will benefit from buying the game on either of these platforms are people who have been playing free versions and want to continue playing beyond the last free release, or people who are looking to downgrade their support for the game and are willing to wait a little extra time before getting the latest releases.

Also, we will be releasing a new project we've started on very soon, and Alphas and Betas will get access to that as well.  The new project will not go public until a fair amount of content is written for it, and it is more polished, so only Patreon supporters will be getting early access to it.

This month has been a bit slow with new content just because I've been focusing a lot of time to launch prep-work and bug-fixes so we have a smooth launch on both platforms.   I almost have a 0.6.2 version and I should be putting it out this week.  Once I've got the release candidate in a good place and running well, I plan on diving deep into new development and getting a new Alpha version together adding more of Rachael's story.
