Video Preview and Updates for February:Part 2

Posting a video build up of the Inn for February. Below we will post some images of other products we are also starting in February. There was a lot of fine point line work on this so you only get my 3 coat speed paint on this one.  Upper floor expansions are in the works for March.

Computer renders of this building are Available on Preview I

Here is a link If you missed the Abbey Ruin this month, go get it! or see preview

We are starting some new product concepts, some are new, some have been requested multiple times.

Furnishings

We'll be getting out some primitive style furnishings for this in so you can have a kitchen, public room, and private rooms. Total development on this will bridge into March's release as well.

Miniature Stands

Our commercial seller had a ton of great product ideas that we will be getting after. However, we're going to start by developing stands for miniatures, this will be an ongoing thing. We're starting out with a badland/deadland style base to keep it easy while we nail down the work flow. We have also developed a stand for wetlands that will allow for resin, we will break that out in march. Sizes will be 20mm, 25mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, 25x50mm, 50x100mm, 50x75mm. Height on base plates is 3mm.

Solid Body Buildings

We've had a lot of request for simplified buildings over the last months so we will start including a section of these every month. We will provide a solid body and 2 or 3 part shell style. Windows will be simplified to allow for scaling. I expect these will be scaled anywhere from 18mm to 3mm so you are on your own for resin supports. I expect the hollow body requests are for 25-32mm gamers who have no use for insides. These are simplified and intended for glue assembly.  The 2-3 part builds will be set up for support free FDM printing. ALL These buildings will be full 28mm size, it is up to you to mess with the scale for your needs. We consider this a beta development right now and will get more solid with it after a couple months of feed back.

That's all for now, thanks for stopping in:)

Comments

Thanks Jeremy, I've been thinking on this a lot lately. There is some interest in large landscape features. I may shift the kickstarter I was working on over here and do a land scape thing for a KS since it'd be less abrupt shift from the roads. I've been thinking about some rivers that work with 1" foam for boosters so we can get some actual river beds, caves, waterfalls and whatnot. I think there maybe interest in even really large cliffs and stuff like that as well.

Really excited for this one. Someone else's water mill model made me think that a modular river set in the style of your road sets would be pretty cool. You could do encounters just as you did with the roads. Besides for a water mill, you could do wetlands/shallows, an otter dam, a ford, maybe a ferry, etc. You could do a bridge that connects to your roads. Maybe there's a troll under the bridge, or maybe bandits. You get the idea. Anyway, great job!

Amazing, thank you!

Chris Hurst

Got it, thanks:) I think it will work well for that. I'll get a couple bunks out with the next furniture set as well.

I was thinking the first for the common watchmen to bunk in :)

Chris Hurst

For dormitory , do you mean large open room with bunks or very small rooms?

Thanks a bunch Mario:)

Understand. It is a brilliant model for sure, so much so that I just invested today in an Filament type printer as my resin one can't handle the size :) for me though I think it will make a great watch house/barracks rather than an inn. With the fortified wall and turret it should work nicely. Some kind of additional copyable level to act as a dormitory would be amazing, so a few rooms for officers etc, the common room, the kitchen/refectory and dorms for the common guards.

Chris Hurst

I've taken a look at the warhammer templates. I'll do rounds a month behind, that way I can advertise 2 styles every month. I get just putting out a few but If I do it I might as well go all the way. That is 19 base variations plus a few variants on the smaller size. As mentioned I don't need to do a ton since rounds can be re-orientated more.

Thanks Alex:)

Hi Chris, Yeah I hear you, I thought on this point a bit. It is a big Inn but really it is the bare-ass minimum to be useable in gaming. As such I decided to go with more of a bed and breakfast set up. The kitchen area is intended to be an extension of the public are despite the cooking and the public area isn't really intended for anyone off the street. There isn't much room for characters past what fits in a few layers of rooms. Having said that I have a giant Inn shelved that I might pull out. I have 3 kickstarters more than half designed and the longer I'm on Patreon the less interested I am in dealing with Kickstarter. So basically, yes I agree but I'm not doing it on this one. I already have some ideas for the upper levels that will pave the way for this building being other things than an Inn type building.

Absolutely awesome! Only niggle I have is that I find it strange that you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the common/bar room. I'd much rather see stairs up to the first level and a door as a public entrance tbh, perhaps something that could be considered as an expansion? As an innkeeper I don't want all sorts coming in and out through my kitchen all of the time :)

Chris Hurst

Love it! Great low wall implementation! :D

Alex A

Great work with the Inn. Very playable.

http://en-blastedhorizons.blogspot.com/2015/07/guide-to-40k-bases.html Found this site too that lays it out well, looks like there is just one Pill base and the rest are regular ovals.

Thanks Jake, that gives me an idea on what is needed. It's not a big deal to do both eventually though it could get rougher as I move into swamps and graveyards. I could alternate on months since it looks like it would be a large amount. I'll think about how to deal with the time on this.

I think GWs games have shifted many figures from 25 to 32mm rounds due to their figures' scale creep. That's close enough that I would just change scale in the slicer, but 40K & Sigmar players might want 32 with the ground texture scaled the same. I think they use 40mm and 60mm as well for larger critters. I guess this opens a whole other rabbit hole to go down but I found: https://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Basing_Guidelines_for_Warhammer_40,000 and https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/age_of_sigmar_base_sizes_en.pdf

I would be OK with 1 of each, or if the designs are really different then a comparable number of rounds to squares if the geometry doesn't make it too much hassle to switch shapes. I've printed one base many times and made it look different by rotating the direction the figure faces, altering the dimensions, adding a couple tufts or a patch of sand, etc

D1/4" x 1/8" thick, N52, GOLD plated, Rare Earth, Neodymium Disc They are quite strong magnets and I use them for my desktop modular hobby organiser system

Thanks Heath:)

Hi Michel, what size? 1x5mm rounds? The models are at a point where they don't handle integrating new features very well. But I can take a look at cutting it in,

Thanks Mark. What variation and quantity would you look for on round bases? is 1,2,3 inches fine or is there a standard somewhere that I should look at?

Hey Jake, what variation quantity would one be looking for on that?

Could one use magets intead of pegs?

I prefer to go with round/oval bases too. Thanks for doing the interior assets too, seems like a lot of work until you've built up a library.

Mark Croker

Awesome!

Rob Mace

The inn looks amazing! The texture on those bases also looks very nice, but any chance of getting some round versions too (1", 2", 3")?

oldschoolfrp

I really like the video format. Thanks for taking extra time to do that!
