New Poll for File Distribution

EDIT 4/27: Thank you to everyone for your votes and for all the thoughtful comments and insight. I'll start turning the wheels on getting some distribution going on MMF but no timeline yet. I will continue to distribute on DTRPG. I find it most significant that a decent number of folks would like as many options as possible. I'll look into providing back links on MMF to a certain point, it will give me an excuse to reach out to folks that have wandered off:)

7 or 8 months ago we ran a poll on file distribution, at the time we decided to use drivethrurpg.com as opposed to MMF. I want to run another poll to see what sentiments are. The Patreon is growing well and it is feasible to do both going forward. For fully archival access, my money is on drivethrurpg.com to be around for the long haul, given their product diversity and history. MMF does offer some promotional opportunities. I've been previously hesitant because their ability to handle large batch files had been "transitional."  There isn't a significant direct economic benefit to us with either service. Thanks for taking the time to participate:)

OTHER NEWS: Looks like a redesigned of the GameScape3d siege tower is going to be licensed and used by Zorpazorp gaming and used in a video at the end of this week. We are also early in talks for having our building used in a Chronopia reboot coming in the 4th quarter of this year. We’ll have more details toward the end of the week.

Comments

Its simple: MMF seems to be the one place almost every STL creator is gravitating to. Yes, their UI needs improvement. But, nearly every STL patreon I subscribe to is now on there, and many Kickstarters are heading there too.

Thank you :-)

Nancy Hutchins

No Problem, MMF is common shorthand for myminifactory.com while DTRPG refers to drivethrurpg.com

I am sorry I do not know what MMF is . . .

Nancy Hutchins

I dont care for MMF. It gives me noting but problems.

John McCaskill

because it's only a matter of time before amazon looks at 3d file distribution (can't be any harder than e-books).

Mike Stickler

I didn't actually realise that they were being delivered to drivethrurpg and it's actually pretty cool now I have gone and looked at it. I'd actually be happy with either that or MMF but the advantage of MMF is that everyone else I am subscribed to uses it. Why all the concerns about MMF availability in the future?

Chris Hurst

I will say my favorite 3D file management portal is https://www.printablescenery.com/ They get it. Gamescape3d site is good too. MMF is garbage. I don't trust my files will be accessible in the future. Where DTRPG gives me a bit more warm fuzzy and the desktop app on DTRPG makes me NEVER worry about getting the files once I get them into my cart and checked out. I just kick off the download every once in a while.

Oh you hit the nail on the head with MMF it is garbage when you get a lot of projects. Things aren't clearly labeled. I get redemption notices and its almost impossible to tell what something is because creators don't use descriptive names... I have 3 identical projects that list as "Files", I say "Fails", there is not best practice there letting me know WHAT files???. Ad Blocker actually lets me see what I am looking for. The other thing I like about DTRPG is their desktop client. I am not worried about having a local copy that is up to date. I just run the app and get latest now and again.

Hunter Mayer

the UI at drivethru kills me, its just difficult in general to use. MMF isn't great, but its certainly a ton better and the fact that literally all of my other patreon's have moved to MMF fulfillment, this is a no brainer for me.

For me it's the download speed. MMF has limited bandwidth (unless you subscribe $$), crappy search engine, files can not be sorted in any way, shape or form. They won't even do creator alphabetization! Everything piles in one of 2 places in order of "redemption". Just sad. I've been using Gamescape3d.com for this place. DTRPG is a good backup for me.

Kristin Chernoff

I have accounts in mmf, your website and drive thru so any of them works for me

Lisa Kellogg

I like all 4 options, in the day of cloud computing I have found you can never have too many backups! I understand this could be a headache to manage though

Ryan Smith

DTRPG is good as is MMF. I'm glad to hear about your products being used by others. That's good all the way around.

Ramiro Carrasco Jr.

+1 for the DTRPG sync app. That's the ultimate feature out of all the other options listed!

Richard Sorden

I'd trust DTRPG to still exist in 10 years... not so sure about the others.

I prefer Drive thru because I already have so much stuff there and they have the app so I can sync all of it to my hard drive without having to worry about it at all. MMF is fine and I use it, but please keep DTR
