If possible we want to release an Early Access version of the game by August this year. Ideally we would finish the whole game by 2020. We don't think we can keep up our activites on Patreon sites for all that long, but we can't say for sure when exactly we'll complete the game either.

It's as you say- water physics take a lot of processing power so it'd be almost impossible for us to implement. Even creating artificial physics from scratch would be very hard and we'd have to rely on Unity assets, but even then there are relatively few Unity assets that are easily compatible with VR so our choices are even slimmer. We're close to giving up on having realistic water altogether.

Hi, I noticed you are concerned about water physics. I am no video game developer (yet) but it seems that water in almost any video game is not treated exactly like water. Most games treat water like some different material. Some games include the tension or friction forces of water when you collide into it, slowing the character down. Some games simply add a water effect, like soaking or water displacement. Some games even add a swimming animation when in contact with enough water. You might find inspiration on water physics from top-selling video game titles like Crysis or Stranded Deep as some random examples. You probably already knew that but my point is, since the game play focus is between Chieri and Makoto, the water physics shouldn't ruin the experience for us --- or at least for me ---. There is bound to be some degree on unrealistic feature when it comes to water in a video game. Games that do have some of the best water physics also require high-end graphics cards to keep the FPS up. So just do your best! This is a fantasy kind of game anyway and if people want to complain about unrealistic water then they're here for the wrong reasons.

I'm glad you're taking a break from the city scene, while it is important to the story and very impressive in terms of scale/physics, it sure seems to cause you guys a lot of grief, so it's nice to have a change of pace. I think if you are able to make the sequence slow and/or smooth, having Chieri use Makoto as soap might be a fun idea and not as jarring in VR.

It'll take some time until we can finish the city part, but we also personally want to keep working on it as soon as possible. The bath will probably be used as a bonus scene rather than an entire path.

You're right that using Makoto like soap would probably feel sickening to experience. She could set him on her stomach and make him start washing and get mad when he's taking too long. After he starts washing she could close her eyes, lean her head back and relax, then the eyes snap open and look angry!

I think most of us would be fine if you focused more on the 1 on 1 interactions rather than the city stuff. Maybe use the city portion you’ve already made as a set up for a possible sequel?
