Land of Milk and Honey (In Progress Sketches)

(Spoiler warning, folks who want to be surprised by the comic should wait until later to view these. )

It's another round of in progress sketches for those who enjoy seeing a bit into the comic making process.

For a bit of info about why exactly I work so messily during these sketch phases for anybody curious. This is a process called thumbnailing,  basically it's just a very rough version of the comic. It's purpose is to be very fast, very loose and to set the staging for your scenes inside the comic's panels.

Staging consists of where your characters are, what they're doing and where the camera is in relation to them. If you can set the staging in your panels then it's quite easy to do a second pass to spruce up the anatomy and get your characters on model before finally inking the piece.  After all, you don't want to be worried about keeping your character's proportions correct while you're also trying to set up a full scene.

Usually these are done on a much smaller scale than the finished piece will be but I just do it on the actual pages themselves to save a bit of time. Redrawing everything from scratch is just a bit more tedious than just drawing over your old sketches. Shhh don't tell my teachers.... >_>;;
