A new chapter; some life updates and Patreon news!

Hi guys! Things have been pretty hectic over here on our end, and it's come to the point where things are going to change pretty drastically for Suzana and I, so it's time for us to include you guys in what's going on in our life.

A short while ago, my (Owen, hi ♥) family approached me with the opportunity to provide in-home care for an elderly relative of mine. Suzana, my family, and I have been in talks about it for a while, and we've finally come to the consensus that we will be very gladly taking them up on it. We have a great relationship with my family already, and Suzana and I have a great deal of elder care experience from previous jobs and family situations— but most importantly, we work from home, and are (uniquely among my family members) able to provide this person 24/7 care while continuing to pursue our own work.

We'll just have to make a few adjustments to our current production schedule to make sure we're not overpromising ourselves!

So, here is what's NOT going to change, at ALL:

Suzana and I will still be making 2 pages of TOY a week. We'll still be uploading each page one update early for Patreon. We'll continue to update the Dropbox on the $5 and $10 tiers, and we'll be able to update it more frequently going forward.

None of our current projects will be ending. When TOY is finished (probably not until early next year, by our estimations), we will still be immediately following it up with a sequel. We even have plans to create some Patreon-exclusive pages alongside the launch of the sequel.

We're really passionate about the stuff we're making, so we're absolutely going to keep making it, and our family is really motivated to help us continue writing.

Now, here's what IS going to change:

We very unfortunately are going to have to discontinue the $20 and $30 tiers on our Patreon, as well as temporarily stop offering physical products in our store. If you've pledged on our $20 or $30 tiers, you have our promise you will receive a print and art card for every month you've supported us. We'll be closing the tier within the next couple days to ensure you aren't charged for this service again.

If you have any concerns, please contact us through Patreon DMs, or at toythecomic@gmail.com - we'll process that immediately. Otherwise, you have our word that every print and art card you've signed up for will be in the mail as soon as we've settled in at the new address.

We cannot stress enough how much we appreciate each and every one of you, on EVERY tier, for the love and support you show us by being here. I don't know if you truly know how much you are the reason we've been able to make TOY— or literally anything Suzana and I are able to make together. If I don't impress that on you enough, please know how much your support means to us. Please understand how much each and every one of you mean to us. We just want to be able to give back to you guys as much as you give to us, and we want to be able to do it right, without making you guys wait too long.

And we'll let you know in the future if we're in the position to offer physical reward tiers again, as soon as we can!

That's all for now; we'll check in again as soon as we have more information for you. Updates will be continuing as normal, otherwise— and we'll still see you tomorrow with the next page of TOY!

EDIT (8/16): We'll see you... tomorrow with the next page ♥ We're so sorry for occasional hiccups like this; some things takes us slightly longer to finish than we plan for!

Comments

No worries at all! I'll send a reminder nudge in a week or so, just in case Patreon doesn't send an alert! ♥

ToyBox Comics

That's actually the answer I expected. I'm guessing we'll get a notification when switched to No Tier and I'll go re-select then. Thanks for checking!

Laura E

I'm glad you asked, because I actually wasn't sure before, but Suzana was able to find the answer— patrons on cancelled tiers will be sorted into a category that says "no tier," and then are given the option to either cancel or to reselect a tier. I think we may also have the ability to cancel it for you as well, but we can't sort anyone into tiers. I hope that's helpful— and thanks so much!! ♥

ToyBox Comics

Will those of us on those tiers need to do something to adjust or they'll be adjusted automatically? Wishing you the best of luck. Your family is fortunate you are in a position to be able to do this!

Laura E

Thanks so much for your kindness, we really appreciate that ♥ Our family is very adamant that they not disrupt our work, and insist on helping us maintain our current production schedule, which we're SUPER super grateful for— so fingers crossed, if all goes as planned, we'll still be making things we love just as frequently ♥♥ We'll let you know if it changes, but I'm pretty confident and optimistic about it!

ToyBox Comics

Speaking as an old person (still thankfully self-sufficient but probably not forever), I compliment you on stepping up to this task! I do hope you'll /eventually/ complete the book series, even if not as soon as originally planned.

Brian Harvey

Thank you so much!! We definitely still plan to do another Kickstarter— we'll likely be leaning on Hiveworks for help with shipping this time around, but we'll get that sorted ASAP as well ♥ We appreciate the interest, we're excited for it ourselves!

ToyBox Comics

That seemed like a big decision, fortunately you have your family's support! Best of luck in your new venture! Do you still have plans to sell a physical copy of ToY on Kickstarter next year?
