What Would You Like To Hear / See Us Do?

Hey Patrons!

(Danny here)

Wow, we reached 25 patrons already, that's amazing!

*grabs boot and can of Blue Coast*

Thanks so much for your support of the podcast and for being some of the first folks to come and join our community here.

We put this whole thing together based on years of feedback on what we thought supporters of the podcast would enjoy. But we never had the opportunity to explicitly asked any of you what it is you'd like to see us do?

The reason we're doing this is to make cool stuff for those of you who have been asking for it, so seriously there are no wrong answers. Let us know what you're into so we can make this a community you all get something out of.

Also - while I've got you here. how are we all feeling about the new season? There's been so much driver and engine swapping I find it hard to make heads nor tails of it. We're gonna get into what happened at pre-season testing in next week's episode but how are you all feeling about the upcoming season? Any predictions?

- Danny

I think you guys should post the main episodes to the Patreon feed as well, if possible. It would be an easy way of creating a place to discuss each episode.

Tygre

In your trailer I noticed clips from 'TT: Closer to the edge' so I assume that's already on the list of documentaries to watch but along the same lines I'd like to recommend 'Road', its a documentary narrated by Liam Neeson about the Dunlop family of road racers following the careers of brothers Joey and Roberts and Roberts two sons William and Micheal, its a tough watch at times especially in the context of Williams death last year but it provides a great insight to what goes on in the mind of someone who races in a world where death isn't just a possibility but likelihood.

Sion Roberts

Basically any movie about (even tangentially) motorsports should be up for grabs. I work 8 hours a day and NEED something to listen to guys. FEED ME MORE!

Patrick Cotham

I don’t want to turn this into Rob’s second Be Good and Rewatch It type podcast thing, but movies/documentaries like RUSH, Grand Prix/GP:The Killer Years, Senna, 1, Life on the Limit, and of course the F1 Netflix series would be excellent IMHO maybe even some “rubbing is racing” like Days of Thunder.

Patrick Cotham

Would love to see you guys fix the email 😉

Bryan Damatan

Like others have said, a series where you watch a classic race and then do a podcast on it would be awesome. Advertising ahead of time what race you will watch and allow us to watch on f1tv would be perfect. Maybe something for the summer/winter break.

Sam G

Now is the time for a Spain 2012 podcast, because of obvious reasons.

AJ

Would love to see the F1 97 for the ps1 reviewed this was my first f1 game

Mark Joss

Welp, it's been awhile since I've listened to a pre-season primer and I had misremembered - they are actually exactly as granular as I'm talking about. Disregard me!

Adrian Heise

Scratch everything else I wrote, please do a deep dive on The Chemical Brothers - We've Got To Try music video and what it means for the future of F1 #NEEUM

Tygre

Please, do a primer on WRC. Heres some reasons: 1. Its one of the most unpredictable series. Crashes, flat tires, random accidents happen pretty much in every Rally. 2. Its easy and free to watch it. Red Bull TV covers all the Rallies, live and also on demand. 3. It has a great connection to a game series. Dirt and Dirt Rally. I started liking Rally racing after randomly buying Dirt Rally on a steam sale and playing hundreds of hours after that.

Marcos Gusmão

Id love to hear a discussion on Grand Prix, the 1960s F1 movie- I know Rob's seen it but I'd love Drew & Danny's take on it.

AJ

Track walks for sure! Maybe a dedicated episode going over the basics of the sport itself in addition to the season primer, for folks who are jumping in at ground zero?

Adrian Heise

+1 for Track Walks, I'd love for new ones of those.

Oskar Sigvardsson

I definitely think the convergence between F1 and gaming is Shift-F1s USP, so that's definitely where I would focus in general. The retrospective Let's Plays is a great start, but leaning in that direction in general is definitely what I'm here for. I'd love for you to bring back Track Walks in some form. Maybe some sort of livestream so chat can ask questions / give trivia about the tracks as you drive them, or some sort of mildly competitive lap-time shoot-out between the hosts? Speaking of mild competition, a Patron-only F1 fantasy league seems like a low-effort perk you could throw in?

Tygre

Patron-only discord?

Matt Goulet

There probably isn't much time for it, but would love to see you guys tackle a GT race category.

Matt Goulet

Think the film reviews are a great idea and a big reason I signed up - would love to hear your thoughts on the new Netflix documentary... also Senna and the original Grand Prix movie spring to mind. Maybe some stuff that's slightly less F1 specific too like Closer to the Edge (which I think you have touched on before in the podcast). Really interested in the games as well - the Geoff Crammond games were such a big part of my childhood/teenage years - GP2 was delayed so many times, I used to get my mum to take me down to the local video game store so I could ask them what the current date was...got completely addicted once it finally came out.

Dom McKenzie

Would love for classic race podcasts, covering historic and exciting races from F1's (and other disciplines) history, similar to the episode about Button's run in Canadian Grand Prix 2011, I think they would be great additions to the patron podcast feed

Ryan

Totally agree. Nice and simple. Also removes pressure from everyone since you guys already have full time jobs and two other Patreons to service.

Tohir Tillyaev

I’m so looking forward to this new season. I feel like half of the paddock has something to prove - from teams like Ferrari to McLaren, Renault and Williams. Drivers like Vettel, Leclerc, Bottas and Kubica. True drama!

Tohir Tillyaev

Would be great if you post the regular episodes on the patron podcast feed 🙏🏼 One tier is nice so everyone will have the same experience 👍🏼

Majed

I'm going to stick with the current tier regardless, looking forward to the gaming bit. Not desperate for anything else, got a lot of podcasts, videos & live-streams on the go as it is from many sites & companies.

Liam Brown

I think it's up to date until 2020 when they add the Vietnam gp.

Lark Roe

I think I'd like that, though you need quite a few people to make it worthwhile.

James

Yeah I'd love a runthrough lap and then maybe a 10 lap race!

James

Would love a Discord server, and y'all should watch Days of Thunder

Steve Boyland

As far as movies go Grand Prix: The Killer Years is a personal favourite that I'd love to hear your thoughts on.

James

I would love for you to find a way to get cans of Blue Coast - prove it’s not a shell company once and for all!

Nat Crouch

Track walkthroughs updated to modern times... tho does F1 2018 have all the new tracks?

Fragglerock

I’d like to see you guys review some documentaries that cover older F1 eras like Grand Prix: The Killer Years or The Quick and the Dead. There are some brutal scenes in both documentaries but it is interesting to see how safety has been improved since those days.

David Chica

I'd be interested in quick biographies of drivers from history sonething thats not too time taxing for you guys but also helpful in fleshing out the sport for newcomers and good reminders for us lifelong fans

Deco Skye

I was surprised there wasn't more tiers! I was expecting maybe a $10 tier. Shift F1 swag would be a great addition.

Glenn McKnight

If you got enough backers I would love to see you be able to go to the USGP (and maybe more) and film travelogues in a Cloth Map style!

Blake Scott

Came here to ask this same question!

R.J. Nye

Is there going to be a separate Shift+F1 discord channel (I say separate as I’m also in the noclip channel).

Gary Cobb

I know you guys through giant bomb and waypoint, and was very sad to see drew leave GB nest. I’m 100% for let’s plays, but I think you should call them Quick Looks. What, is Gerstmann gonna sue?

Michael

I’m just stoked the podcast is back (Rob has been a fantastic acquisition!) and I’m glad to be able to contribute to the pod that truly got me into F1! As far as ideas, I know the show is primarily about F1 & you guys touch on Indycar in *ahem*. RACIN’ ROUND THE WORRRRLD...but maybe a periodic indycar focused episode? Cheers boys, hoping to get to the USGP this year, if the podcast will be there I’d be at a meetup for sure!

Taylor Anderson

I'm really excited about this new season, how good will Ferrari look vs. Mercedes, what can Res Bull do with Honda? What will Leclerc and Gasly be able to do, I mean half of the drivers in the Big 3 are under 23 that's something really cool. And for movies, well Senna is the obvious one and Netflix drops a show about F1 in less than a day, that could be cool ^^

TheGreatMuffin

Especially if the race is available on f1tv.

Lark Roe

As someone who is new to F1, I'd love to see content on classic F1 racers and races, to get some more history on the sport

Aurelia Augusta

The game videos interest me because those 80s and 90s years are just packed with weird off brand and unlicensed F1 and "F1" games and I played a lot of them. I would be super into a chronological run through the officially licensed games mostly for the drop off a cliff that is F1 97 to F1 98. As for the season itself, I'm fully expecting Leclerc to just embarass Vettel from day 1 and we get a hilarious season long Vettel meltdown.

Karen Sykora

I don't have any good ideas but I'm so glad I can finally support the podcast that got me into F1. So glad Rob is back this season.

Lark Roe

If possible a recorded live watch. Film and forties style. I get that's a logistical nightmare with Danny and Drew's schedule.

Lark Roe

A few things: I think this film should be high on the list: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0132245/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_35 A real driving movie classic...or something like that. Is there a goal that results in all three of you doing a shoey on a livestream?

Wesley Livesay

I think a group let’s play of Motorsport Manager would be a lot of fun.
