I threw this together before bed. It's not amazing or representative of anything, but I've been fiddling with some Game Maker stuffs, and I need to consider set design and stuff.

Since I'm blatantly inspired by Castlevania for the Elayne Boobmont idea, I pretty much just drew the staircase up to Dracula. Though I fully expect to deviate when I design my game. After all, I'd like to grasp the FEELING of Castlevania, which I don't think has been present since Castlevania IV -- but I'd still want to do my own thing too.

Games are cool, but if it's something I'M going to make, I'd probably want the game to feel like an interactive artwork, so I fully expect to make the sprites very large. For instance, if a single block in Castlevania on NES was 16 x 16, I'm going to upscale that 6 times; 96 x 96. I'd like to make something with the same appreciation for the art & visual expression that the Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap remake had.

Of course, environments are not a forte of mine so this is going to take a lot of practice & iteration. But perhaps you'll enjoy seeing more visual set pieces in my work as I try to express the aesthetic I want to achieve.

It might be a good idea to work out the art alongside, and possibly even before a lot of the coding since it's going to be such a large focus of my development.

Don't forget to eat & sleep.
