The way Amaranth's hair is drawn changes from piece to piece...

A long time ago, an evil wizard did some uncool stuff and the practice magic has since been outlawed. In typical RPG fashion, a hero was trained since birth to battle the evils of sorcery. All the while, her assistant & party pack-mule provides arcane assistance behind the scenes, all the while maintaining the secret of their powers.

Not a particularly unique idea, but a kind of silly take on RPGs in which the useless travel companion saves the day more than we realize. With a bit of super cool Batman thrown in there. Batman's like that, right?

Amaranth's an old character I don't draw very often, but I typically make time for him when I want to draw an angry face that looks slightly upward. He's one of the main characters for a comic idea I won't be tackling any time soon. I still haven't settled on a design for the hero chick, but she wears armor, and that's cool.

I should really try doing things I don't usually do with art, like full black & white illustrations. This started as pure black/white, but then it just started to hurt my eyes, so I made some adjustments and added colour. Though it still is pretty hard on the eyes...
