It's always pretty exciting when I see a red shooting star in BotW, because it happens when I'm just walking around, and it adds an element of surprise. That's part of the Xenoblade Chronicles DLC that adds Rex's outfit into the game, but my Link would probably get Pyra's.
I took a bit longer on this particular piece, but you might've been able to tell just by looking at the rendering style -- which I don't do so often because of the time investment required, and these works don't technically feel much stronger than other pieces. I'm planning to do some experimentation in the coming months to refine my overall work. I wish Patreon didn't display it all blurry-like though. Be sure to click the image to view it properly!
There's not too much to say about it, it's a fairly simple idea with an obvious appeal that works well enough. My Link's design seems well suited to Pyra's outfit, doesn't it?
I might've felt too chained to the original colours; I don't think I'm doing anything wonderful with them -- it seems to lack my usual of dynamic colour or the bouncing of cools & warms. My handling of values doesn't seem particularly dynamic either, so that's something to be mindful of in the future.
With exception to the arm on the right, the rest of the forms feel a bit flat. I have a habit of over-rendering, so I intentionally pulled back here, but I don't think it ultimately came out as good as it could have otherwise. Alas, these things happen! I'd like to make more work that feels as dynamic as that one arm.
Anyway, don't forget to eat & sleep.
