[Patron-Only Feed] Plans for September & October

Although you might not think it, with how quiet the week was... I did quite a bit of work, huh. I usually only put about 2 columns of illustrations during these previews. I am a little tired.

Anyway, that's enough about that. Let's talk about my thoughts on the months to come.

September

Focus on Comic

Now, October 31st sounds like a dangerous deadline to me. That means I only have 2 months to create a comic on a property I haven't deeply explored prior, and that is not something I often do. But… It is too perfect an opportunity to pass up, given Elayne Beaumont's roots in the spoopy.

I plan to focus almost entirely on this comic during the month of September. By minimizing distractions, I would be giving myself the best chance of meeting my deadline and allowing myself to work more comfortably. I hope to accomplish most of the heavy lifting during September so that October is much less stressful.

That being said, I expect that my posting habits will be different during this time.

Early Concept Art & Discussion

If my posting habits are different next month, then it would be a good idea to publish September's Concept Art & Discussion post earlier than usual. This way, you have a better idea of what it is I'm working on earlier in the month.

Perhaps that should be out by the second week?

Prioritizing Self-Care

As you are doubt aware, making comics is a lot of work. This work is demanding both physically & mentally. So, If I'm going to be dedicated to such a project, then I have to take care of myself. This model of work MUST be sustainable and I can not risk burning out in the middle of it -- or getting sick by the end of it.

Secondary Task: Linktober Concepts

Although fairly low priority by comparison, I am excited to participate in this year's Linktober. I can tackle that particular project much more efficiently if I've prepared some sketches & concepts ahead of time. You can view the challenge schedule on twitter.

October

Focus on Linktober

It could be fun to dedicate most of October to Linktober, a daily art challenge that allows me to explore various subjects from The Legend of Zelda. This is sure to be exciting for those of you who prefer my Female Links more than anything else I draw. That'll be, like, 31 illustrations during that month -- one for each day.

Of course, this will only be possible if I'm able to get enough done in September.

Secondary Task: Elayne Beaumont Comic

As said previously, I will prioritize this comic during September, and hopefully, enough of the heavy lifting will be done, so that I will only need to do finishing touches. If this is true by the time October starts, then Linktober can become the focus.

Other

Commissions

I have been doing commissions pretty consistently this month. So much so, it's actually gotten a little tiring -- but I still want to get some more done. I'm about 33% through the amount I want, so I'll try to keep at it for a bit longer.

Given the general volatility of my Patreon income and my priority on using that income for food & bills, these commissions are a more reliable way of funding an upgrade to my workstation.

There's quite a bit of information in this post, so I'll leave it at that. Thank you for your support! I'm planning to spend the rest of the week on pre-development stuff for the Elayne Beaumont comic so I can jump right into it when September starts.
