Yes, please offer virtual options!! I'm in NC and have been trying to find something just as you are describing. Herpetology is something I'm so interested in but nothing and nowhere offers the truth!

PLEASE offer a virtual option for the classes!! Even if it’s just recordings, it would be incredible to have access to exactly what you’re planning to do.

I would love for Clint to come out with a video discussing his views on how evolution and God coexist, because it’s something both atheists and Christians typically believe can’t exist together. I think it would be really helpful to hear how Clint sees them working together!

I also think some people who really struggle with the 'why are athiests so angrily and violently anti-religion' problem might get some benefit from this article. It was specifically written by a licensed psychologist based on her observations within the heath (norse/germanic gods pagan) communities, but it applies to anyone who is stuck in the mode of running away from a religion or group instead of being called to something else. https://www.realheathenry.com/the-churches-wounded/

*sits, listening and enjoying while at work. Here's something about Mongoloid as a race of humans, perks in horror* Mongoloid is the 'race' designation used by anthropologists who believe in race to define the mix of soft and hard tissue traits that indicate homo sapiens adaptations are from living for many times many generations east of the caucasus mountains. This stands in comparison to Caucasoid (adaptations from around the caucases. probably most easily identified nowadays based on those modern geographic groups that are descended from the indo-european migrations), Afracanoid (adaptations from saharan and subsaharan africa), and amerind (adaptations that occurred in groups that crossed the bering land bridge and other methods of pre-historic transit to the new world and living in the new world after that time). The only context in which these terms are appropriate for use are in contexts wherein we are working on identifying remains that lack any other means of identification (therefor usually skeletanized or mostly skeletanized, but there are no dental records to compare). There is no basis for comparing these 'races' other than as sets of features that can help create composite drawings or identifying features in order to help identify things about these remains. Anthropologists who don't believe in 'race' instead believe in what they call Clines and will avoid these group terms, but otherwise still work similarly in terms of feature sets to try to define geographic origin of features (for archaeological remains) or likely social groups/locations the remains' original owner may have come from in a forensic context. *lets out a deep breath* Sorry, I knew (and wasn't wrong) that this context was going to be entirely missed once that was brought up and I wanted to make sure that it was out there.

I... um... so... this life science academy/slower-paced education option.... will there be a digital option?

Amber Hammerschmidt

I think the human species that he's to remember is Denosovians. Edit: It was at the 1 hour and 10 minutes area of the video. Edit 2 (I should have thought this out before starting): Here's the Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denisovan

I tend to forget Clint's early statement in the video that any possibility of convincing a young earth creationist to accept what you say, you must understand and be able to articulate their own beliefs to them.

the education projects sound so exciting ^^ will these all be in person or are you guys thinking of doing some remote-taught courses? even as someone still in academia -just in a different field- i would *love* to enroll in something like you're describing...

tansie

I‘d love to take courses about my special interests! Since I live in Europe I would love an online course to happen

Unrelated. I've been searching the internet everywhere for a model of the gaboon viper that sits on the shelf behind Clint. I like it so much and I cannot find one even close to it to buy. Could anyone help with a tip on where to get something similar, please? :D

There a photo of me in my mom took in my later tweens or early teens kissing a toad. Tee hee. One of the many animals I got to know growing up in the country. Eastern box turtles, a kiddie pool of tadpoles after some visiting frogs .... a less domed green turtle, garden snakes I could see but parents didn't want to deal. Fireflies, grasshoppers. These days, access to some nature despite living in a city, I have had the best experiences with katydids. :)

Btw, for Clint, 100% agree on the education thing. Beyond rote memorizing college master course enrollment is high and so you easily become just a number in the system, and both having unique needs and a now path in the conservation/education/ phynplogy space ... pivot from straight it mgt, which is also needed in this space, the lack of stats in the program (I thankfully have had taken that back in hs), an annotated bibliography for a class was the start of some research. I know a college here in WI now offers grad certs in conservation analygics data mgt and others. All required atm is in good standing in any masters program, and undergrad degree major doesn't matter. Step in right direction. Once approved (not enrolled yet) access to network of researchers and student pool in program. I have a lot going on this summer including a move induced by crazy rent increases. The program is also 100% so who knows here. May be staying in state for the year foe some medical reasons, but who knows. Except I have a friend that insists to join me to UT next year for your summer camp and canyon viewing (Antelope, and wherever else recommended.) Related to this video, i beliece in God/am a spieitual person and the church i go to speaks quite positively on science and evolution, and that one can accept both science and bible. Honesty, scientific methodology helps us best observe (either directly with senses, or the analysis of DNA) but there is so much we are continuing to learn. Much is still unknown. God is really the same, overall.. Some have/eee/feel in them (perception/observation) deep connections to their faith/spiritual beliefs. I have a friend who served the military 20 years, travellings often, and got to see... 46 different religions. Rsther aligned with my base: At base, monoi or polyrheistic: variations of religious texts carry the same stories and messages, changed by culture/politics... at heart: 1. be kind and loving to each other and build community 2. Humans are made in God's image. God is complicated and so are we. People are complicated, too... even with the same text, over the ages different interpretations and editions lead to more complications and differences in what views are held, aligned to their other cultural/social beliefs. So stepping back, scientists/evuluyionishs and relugoous/creationisalists who do not want to learn or desire to understand (even if they're unable to accept btw/chamge) there ealso still is a very real space where people can live and believe in both science and God. As well as spaces/a spectrum from one extreme to the other. These videos (Clint's and the creationalists) do what is most necessary. Share what they know, and ask questions and be open to learning more. Going to zero to the outer shield of Earth outtakes are contagiously silly/giggly... and. . reminds me of experiences on 6 Flags Maxx Force. It accelerates from 0 to 78 mph in 1.8 seconds. Straightaway, then up and over followed by an inverted 0G loop, ride less than 30sec. . All my friends and I can do feom launch is laugh. You can try and scream, but the stomach and lungs are usually left in takeoff. ".for leveraging pneumatic power (pressurized air) to launch roller coasters to lightning-fast speeds in mere seconds... And if you can't see it, you can hear it.Aug 19, 2019https://www.coaster101.com/2019/08/19/maxx-force-review-a-force-to-be-reckoned-with/ ... there are longer rides, taller rides, but yeah. Evolutionarily speaking, quite advanced when it came out in '19 and for my dear friend Mary who mentioned earlier the day I rode with that she always disliked that slow climb of coasters, I had the thing for her. Anyway target! Off to be as fast to escape the Earh shield, or at least reality, if only for a moment. :) For now, I've quite the main video to go show the people I first shared the 1st Evolhtion/NE with and entice a couple to Patreon to support the future Laidlaw Institute & Herpetarium, Clint's Reptjles. It'll be a HIT ;) Great video, guys, and phenomenal extras! Hope camp goes exceedingly well again this year. A friend is already working with me to begin planning our trip out for next year. And, again, It's super exciting to hear Clint talking passionagely about the future education projects!! No worries on how late it may have been getting this video out either. Worth it! <3

I may have actually heard about it, or similar, so most curious if what he's got to share is more detail or another thing all together. Always interesting to hear when things go so siddways evolutionarily/when mutations cause some really weird results.

Katie Meyer

I need to hear more about this dog.

My ears perked up so fast at "continued education". I LOVE the idea! Clint is completely right that so many of us busy adults long to learn more cool stuff but don't want to deal with enrolling in a school and following a ridged course outline. I love geology but don't want to study for midterms and finals. I just want to learn how to lick rocks and glean information from that. XD Btw, will we be licking any reptiles in Herpetology 101? Asking for a friend.

Tracy Velasquez

I LOVE the questions you guys pose to Clint in these Patreon Extras. It really grounds the conversation and leads to some fabulous rabbit trails. It also is a MUCH bigger time commitment in terms of filming and editing and I appreciate every second of it.
