[Blog] Looking towards 2022

I have been thinking about what the Patreon experience could look like in 2022, especially after the last few months of activity. I enjoyed introducing a 2nd voting poll in December, so I'd like to do more with that idea in the future. Plus, it was cool to collaborate with Gunwild to provide unique content in the form of the Dragon Breast comic too.
With that in mind: instead of treating my Patreon like a product, I want to make it fun by emphasizing community engagement & creative expression.
Voting Polls & Events
Additional voting polls allow us to include more of the community & play with multiple concurrent themes. By tweaking the details, we can also make the experience far more lively too. But maybe they don't always need to be voting polls specifically…
Here are some ideas:
Character Voting Polls
I provide a theme, then patrons suggest characters following said theme. Then we vote.
Scenario Voting Polls
I provide a character & situation, and patrons provide conclusions. Then we vote.
Babe of the Month
I provide a character, then patrons suggest ideas for what to do with them during the month.
Sketch Suggestions
Patrons tell me what they want to see and I curate my art around their ideas.
In a way, it might be comparable to rotating Event Quests in an ongoing game like Genshin Impact or Final Fantasy XIV. The diversity of the content will keep the experience feeling fresh while also creating excitement for returning "event" activities -- and allow me to get more creative with it too!
I hope to find a good compromise between spontaneous personal work & these events.
Comic Projects
The upcoming Beaumont comic is still in development, albeit slowly. All of the major plot beats have been figured out, but the actual content still needs to feel meaningful enough to warrant reading it. A lot of my time is being devoted to the emotional impact and pacing -- as these are the most important things.
I'd also like to work on smaller projects; comics that don't take as much time to prepare, collaborations with other creators, and maybe even a Zelda comic (even if it's only a little bit at a time).
Closing
I've been feeling a little inspired lately, so I am somewhat eager to return to work after moving. I need to make A LOT more money than I currently do, so I expect a large chunk of my time to go towards work on commissions. This means I'll need to take extra care of my health because I can't afford to burn out.
Since I expect to move out soon, I've been slowly packing. It will be a while before I can fully lend my attention to work again. I appreciate your patience during this time.
Don't forget to eat & sleep.
Comments
Whatever you feel is best, I am confident good content will come from it.
