Of course technology has advanced, but I stand by my choice. I still also own a functional VCR. . . My second favorite movie is Jurassic Park. It gave me 3 days of scary dinosaur dreams after my first watch, but I love behind the scenes how they created sound (and all) I am still amazed. John Williams, as with Start Wars - nailed it. I would have liked Lost World without the Godzilla-like trampling through the city that was added (book ended differently). And from there, the franchise for the most part went off the rails. Jurassic World introduces characters that we do not connect with as well, with a plot that didn't know if it was paying homage or showing off something new, and demonstrated any lessons were learned from the previous go around. Newp. New dinosaur created "for profit" "because we can" - in movie, and in ticket sales. I have a kareoke parody With movie #3 - Rouge One(RO) - Works on its own quite well, and to classic SW trilogy. Guardians of the Galaxy(GotG) - Works on its own quite well, and was the beginning of a trilogy that I also love.

2025-01-01 06:49:40 +0000 UTCMy take is that the story of Anakin's life is a great tragedy from the moment he's brought into into existence by Darth Plagueis and eventually transformed into a Dark Lord of the Sith by Sidious in a 'dastardly plan' that spanned decades (and the whole galaxy far, far away). For me, having waited from ~1983 -> ~2005 to find out more about Anakin/Vader and his origins, it's _almost_ worth having to wade through many hours of awful acting and hateful characters in the prequels to appreciate his story. Almost, because J*r J*r. And R2's jet hover legs. And 'do you remember ordering a clone army?'. Anyway, the point of my comment is this: my colleagues and I were discussing the fall of Anakin one lunchtime and I made the statement "Anakin had no choice but to join Sidious, he was manipulated his entire life to join him, including being led to believe he could save his wife from certain death". It turned out this was not a widely shared opinion around the table. Given your insightful comments on the SW universe in this video, I'd love to hear your opinion and thoughts on Anakin's plight. Great story, great characters with the enhanced special effects in service of the story and not the sole point of the movie. I also heartily agree with the survival movie vs action movie take. A survival movie shows us how relatable people cope with a unique, remarkable situation while action movies show people with skills/abilities no one has besting a situation. How can a deinonychus run down a vehicle and not a 30 something human on a roof top. How many Olympic track medals does she have; no human has run faster without a lab accident.
