[Blog] Week 1 Complete
Added 2022-04-09 17:23:25 +0000 UTCIt has been a productive week (with 16 unique artworks in the Dropbox Archive so far). Not bad for our first week working under the new format, but we’ll see if the quality holds moving forward.
Unrelated, I’ve been (intermittently) outlining the next Beaumont story over the last few months.
It has been tricky because I can’t simply rush development like I can with visual art. I’ve been trying to find the emotional heart of the story while also providing enough interesting content, which takes a lot of time. It feels a bit like I’m sculpting, so there’s a lot of back-and-forth. Right now, most of my efforts are focusing on adding meaningful content to the “messy middle” and strengthening the first act.
But I need to start producing “Hero” content soon – artwork that can appeal to a larger audience.
Commissions
My schedule has consisted of taking a few commissions every other day of the week. So, for instance:
I took 2 commissions on Monday, took a break on Tuesday, then resumed on Wednesday. This should reduce commission fatigue while also giving me an opportunity to work on other types of work during the week.
However, I received less requests on Friday. Are commissions starting to dry up, I wonder…? That said, perhaps Saturdays would be better (although it would be a shame to work on a weekend). It might be worth trying that out, but I will need some dedicated break time.
What’s Next?
I’m planning to work on an image set for October, featuring hunters like Elayne, Shanoa, Simon Belmont, and more. Expect to see more of that in an upcoming concept art post. I’d also like to draw a few artworks featuring Pkmn Trainer May in preparation for next month.
Don’t forget to eat & sleep.
Comments
It's been a fantastic week of content so far. As for commissions, only reason I haven't grabbed one is conflicting times.
