[Blog] Week 2 Complete
Added 2022-04-20 04:17:30 +0000 UTCI'd like to focus my efforts on this month's Concept Art post and working on the script for my upcoming Beaumont comic, as well as any additional planning for my work. That means I expect the rest of this week to be fairly quiet, unless I'm hit with sudden art inspiration. But since I've been very active lately, I don't think anyone here will complain about it.
Living Arrangement
I've officially lived in my new apartment for a month now. My days are fairly quiet and comfy despite a terrible leak in my ceiling (that has gone unresolved for a month), so that's good. I'm not sure how to get Amazon packages delivered to me anymore, however, because my apartment is behind a locked gate and a locked door - so I don't know how I'm going to bulk order cat food and stuff...
Current Feelings
For much of the first week, I had spent 1-2 hours on "warm up" illustrations before taking on commissions, which help me get into an organic flow of work. This is how we got the early painterly experiments with Elayne - and later, the big Zelda & Easter Bunny artworks. While I haven't done these "warm ups" in a while due to fatigue, I'd like to incorporate them into my routine more often.
Sadly, I only managed half of my monthly goal with commissions. While I can still technically do more, I'd like to focus on preparing for upcoming projects & producing concept art. I've struggled to create in between commissions because I haven't prepared well enough and I only get a few hours to create before I have to resume commissions.
I do need to take more commissions (or earn more money, rather) to survive long-term, but my productivity towards other work has suffered as a result of my recent routine. This is preventing me from effectively creating other types of content that can generate income so I don't have to rely so heavily on monthly commissions...
How have you felt about this month thus far?
Don't forget to eat & sleep.
Comments
It's been a great month in terms of your art so far.

2022-04-20 04:43:51 +0000 UTCConsidering how hard you've worked this month so far, I feel you've earned some time to work on some concept work. Getting commission work done is certainly a priority but pacing yourself to avoid burnout is also equally important. I'm really excited to see what you have in mind for the upcoming Beaumont stuff.
