[Blog] It's quiet... Too quiet!

It’s been quiet lately. The freedom to spend my time as I’d like is great, and there’s still a lot of content, but it’s always worth identifying weaknesses in a system. Especially since this month does feel a bit less exciting than April in terms of content.

So, I’m going to run a short voting poll for $10 patrons soon.

It’s not much, but it will offer a little bit of engagement. I should really resume commissions (so I can afford rent), but they really take away a lot of my time for other creative pursuits.


Game Dev

I’ve spent the last 3-4 days jumping into walls, testing collision problems. Apparently, Castlevania had a surprisingly complex collision system, and my attempt to replicate it had so many bugs. But I think I’ve got it 99% finished, since I haven’t seen any bugs pop up. 

Right now, however, I need to fix the staircase system. Although mostly functional, it is messy and there is a problem interacting with stacked staircases. The game registers there is a staircase going up, but it ends up using the logic of the staircase below it, causing me to walk in the wrong direction.

It’s challenging & fun work, but also incredibly slow at times.
