From Arnie:
We’re racing towards the end of the year and this month flew by.
At work we had a big office party for the release of Party Pack 10 that involved lots of people flying in for a few days (we’re an increasingly far-flung group of employees). Tim Sniffen and Brooke Breit hosted a Jackbox panel show at iO one of the nights and I got to be one of the panelists (which is much easier than hosting if you ask me). In other work news I was promoted from Studio Editorial Director to Studio Creative Director… which means instead of running the editorial department I now run the department with all the game directors. Most importantly: I now have more meetings with Tim Sniffen.
We finished recording season 4 of Magic Tavern a few weeks ago… and just last night we recorded a couple episodes of a very fun Patreon miniseries that’ll run over the break. I have no idea when we’ll announce what that is but, trust me, you’ll be excited.
Emily and I saw the touring production of Beetlejuice: the Musical, which was a lot of fun. And we took the kiddo to see Blue Man Group, which I hadn’t seen in decades and… you know… is still pretty fun.
TV – In no particular order.
- Fargo s5
- Adventure Time - Rewatching it for the first time since it was originally on only this time with the kiddo (who is loving it). So great.
- Doctor Who holiday specials
- Survivor s45
- Golden Bachelor
Movies – Best to… less best. A LOT of rewatched stuff this month.
- Jurassic Park
- The Handmaiden
- Across the Spider-verse
- Gone Girl
- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
- Leo
- Bottoms
- The Killer
- Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
- Mank
- A Haunting in Venice
- Albert Brooks: Defending My Life - look, the clips of his stand up and movies were all great but the documentary itself was pretty meh.
- Die Another Day
Video Games
Spider-Man 2 - finished it!
Gubbins
Super Mario Bros Wonder
Tabletop
- Blood on the Clocktower - Rush and Padraic came into Jackbox for a day and ran some games of BotC which were really fun.
- Betrayal at House on the Hill - been wanting to play this for years and finally got around to it. Fun!
- Scattergories
- Just One

From Matt:
Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone! Mixing up the format this month, because things were a bit hectic.
I was sick on and off last month (no COVID). Also very busy with a work project still.
On the brighter side, I bought a new car. I had been thinking about this since before the pandemic. My old car was a 2009 and just having something reliable again is terrific. Also spent some time in Michigan with family for the holiday and enjoyed great food, fun games, and even some early Christmas shopping.
I’m really thankful for this show, and the performers and production team that make it all happen. I’m thankful for my friends and family, and look forward to getting back to normal and spending some quality time with them again. I hope all of you know how thankful we are for your support and your appreciation. I hope you all have a great holiday season.
Matt
From Adal:
Hope you all are doing well and the holidays provide you some relaxation, tasty food and most importantly - a few good pairs of socks. I’ll be in Vermont over xmas and I’m hoping to not see nor taste a single drop of maple syrup.
Here’s what I consumed in November:
TV:
- Blue Eye Samurai - incredible storytelling and one of my favorite tv shows of the past 10 years - very graphic and gory though. Like Avatar: The Last Airbender meets Kill Bill.
- Invincible season 2 - wild how awesome the soundtrack is for this season
- The Devil’s Plan - if you enjoy reality tv/board games, then you should absolutely check this out
- Slow Horses season 3
- The Curse
- Mr. In Between seasons 1, 2 & 3
- Scott Pilgrim Takes Off - very enjoyable retake on the comics
- Fargo season 5
- The Crown season 6
- Hard Knocks: In Season
Movies:
- The Equalizer
- The Equalizer 2
- The Equalizer 3
- Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas - my family’s traditional holiday time movie. I’m excited to go see the musical based on it in a few weeks here in Chicago
- The Killer
- Sly
- Todd Barry: Domestic Shorthair
- Dina Hashem - Dark Little Whispers
- Albert Brooks: Defending My Life
Music:
- Alvvays: Blue Rev - highly recommend if you’re looking for a new album to keep on rotation
- Alvvays: Antisocialites
- Depeche Mode: Memento Mori
- My Morning Jacket: Tennessee Fire
- Feet: What’s Inside is More Than Just Ham
- Beirut: Hadsel
- Andre 3000: New Blue Sun
Other Stuffs:
- Sleep No More - I went for my 13th visit at the beginning of the month and brought along my bud Stuart for his first time. He seemed to enjoy most of it and also be very annoyed by the audience. I’m thrilled to say after twelve years of trying for the secret sixth floor one on one - I finally stumbled upon it. I was absolutely giddy the whole time. Sadly, a few days after we went, they announced the show is closing in January. I’m hoping to go at least once or twice more before the end.
- Saw The Great Gatsby musical (one of two currently in the works). This one has Eva Noblezada and Jeremy Jordan - the show was meh but they were outstanding.
- Saw the touring Beetlejuice musical as it came through Chicago and the cast was very impressive. Definitely check it out if it’s coming near you
- Saw the musical Islander in Chicago
- Enjoying the new podcast, Business Trips, hosted by two of my improv heroes - Mike O’Brien and Brad Morris
- Just started listening to the Hey Randy podcast on CBB World and it’s one of the funniest podcasts I’ve heard. Dan Lippert can’t miss.
- Jemma and I really enjoyed the Jungle Book Reimagined movement piece we saw on tour. Would recommend if it’s coming near you - https://www.akramkhancompany.net/productions/jungle-book-reimagined/
- Loving Super Mario Wonder so far
- A friend turned me on to the internet comic Mr. Boop. It’s dumb, weird and beautiful. You can knock it out in about 90 minutes here - https://mrboop.net/
- Started listening to the audio version of Barbara Streisand’s new memoir, narrated by her. Big fan so far.
- Played some more Blood On The Clock Tower and wrongly thought Matt was evil. Whoops!
- Had a delightful visit to Nashville to visit my sister and brother-in-law. Had some incredible food (including the best birria tacos of “myyy liiiiife”) and tiki drinks. DM me if you want specifics.
- Spent Thanksgiving in San Juan with Jemma and her family. Didn’t have a single bad meal on the trip. DM if you want a list.
- I was a guest on the That’s What I’m Tolkien About podcast (episode out tomorrow Dec. 5th) - and had a blast learning all about the formation of the titular rings!
- Two performers from The Burnt City are bringing their dance piece ‘Volcano’ to NYC in January. Jemma and I snagged tix. If you’re in the city you should check it out: https://stannswarehouse.org/calendar/month/2024-01/
- I’m excited for the upcoming Hey Riddle Riddle San Francisco Sketchfest show with guest/4th host Janet Varney - tix here
Please let me know what you’ve been enjoying and any holiday traditions you have!
Love
