Added 2018-08-02 17:43:04 +0000 UTCEDIT: It seems as though the issue is mainly affecting Patrons based in the US, since the new payment processor is based in the UK. Switching to Paypal seems to remedy the problem, but if that isn't possible you might have to either switch cards or call your bank to sort things out.
I woke up this morning to a huge increase of declined pledges, and found that this is a problem that's affecting pretty much all creators in the US and UK.
Apparently, Patreon thought it would be a good idea to update their payment systems on the eve of Payday, which has resulted in a lot of banks marking the charge attempts as fraud.
One of the Patreon mods, Mindy, recommended that if you find your pledge has been declined to contact your bank to set the record straight.
I know it's a hassle, but if you guys could double check to see if your pledge went through that would be awesome! I really do depend on your support and a fair bit of it has vanished since this glitch on Patreon's end.
Hopefully they get it sorted out soon!

2018-08-03 21:55:37 +0000 UTCLooks like everything's fine on my end. PayPal sent me the notice that I accepted and did a pre-authorized payment on my card and that it went through. Patreon sent me the automated receipt of the payment. So, that means it's all good for me through PayPal in Canada. ππ

I understand why people are doing it, but I've seen so many people screaming that all the work they made for years has been destroyed or deleted instead of trying to inform people to double check with their banks. It's like they WANT patreon to suffer an even bigger strike than it already has (even though it's more than likely a freakout they're having. It's just irritating since it spread like a wildfire) thanks for the update

They've not mentioned any issues with PayPal once the bank processes the PayPal transaction itself have they?
