Background, prop & Character studies!
Added 2020-09-25 13:07:02 +0000 UTCI've been hard at it for the past week both completing that Freya pinup I just posted, and doing studies in preparation for Jackals and Batteries!
Instead of doing full blown illustrations like I've done in the past for the backgrounds, this time I chose instead to do "thumbnail" studies of the different backgrounds I'll be using for this comic, since the scenery is gonna change multiple times during the comic. There are still more environments I need to do, but this pretty much covers "plot A" for the storyline. I'll be working on the backgrounds, props and characters for the "plot B" storyline next.
I also thought it would be cool to give you a peek at another new character I'm working on named Xill!
He's gonna show up in the first few pages of the next comic along with long-time favorites like Tsenaya and Kaila. I'm not quite done designing him yet, but I think he's coming along nicely.
I said before that he's "New", but actually the concept for Xill goes back as far as my college days in Red Deer, Alberta. In fact, somebody out there has a sketchbook of mine with the original sketches of Xill in it (I sold a bunch of them a few years back). If I still had that book I would have included those sketches on this post- damn! I should have thought to scan that page X3.
In any case, I just wanted to let you in on what's been happening behind the scenes here- once I've done the same for the "B-plotline" We can get started on Jackals & Batteries. Stay tuned!

2020-09-25 18:33:51 +0000 UTCThanks! And yes, they can be used to keep a Djinn under control. Barghest was on his way to becoming a component in one of these cores, which is why he wanted to escape. Morgan and Quinn just didn't have the equipment to hook him up to the ship in his "dragon" form. He would have had to revert to his smaller form for them to do that. I didn't have any plans to bring Morgan and Quinn into the next comic, but we'll see!

And they are used to keep a Djinni under control and imprisoned, in a better fashion than the crates we saw Braghest escape in Meridian. Speaking of which, will we see a cameo from Quinn and Morrigan in this next comic?
