Patreon Newsletter #31: May 2024

 From Arnie:

A few nice dinners. Went to see my neighbor play jazz in a bar. My dad had hip surgery but seems to be recovering well.

Emily and I went to the annual fundraiser gala for Ignite, a Chicago organization that helps with teen homelessness. (Martin Wilson and his wife were there as well.) If you’re interested in learning more about the good work Ignite does, here’s a link: Ignite - futures with promise™ (ignitepromise.org)

Also at my day job, Jackbox Games, we announced one of the things we’ve secretly been working on this year: The Jackbox Naughty Pack. You can learn more about that here: Jackbox Games - Jackbox Gets a Little Naughty

TV – In no particular order.

Movies – Best to… less best.

Video Games

Balatro - Everything is Balatro

Lethal Company - We actually set everything up to record us playing Lethal Company as our characters as a Patreon bonus episode video but then realized at the last minute that it doesn’t work on Mac, so everyone couldn’t play. So… that idea has been delayed for the time being but it would be fun!!

 From Matt:

April 2024

Feels like I was just writing the last newsletter. I wonder what happened this month?

Audio:

A couple of days ago, I randomly picked an older My Brother, My Brother and Me in the car and it was the first Count Donut episode. What a joy. Sorry I missed them when they were in Chicago. Listening to lots of 80s/90s Japanese City Pop in the car. Like old anime, it feels nostalgic while actually all being new to me. Of that time, but something I never experienced.

TV/Movies/Web stuff:

Lots of comfort TV and reality stuff. Just to ease the pain of life. Been feeling the itch to get back out to the theater or watch something a bit meatier. I started watching Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Determined to get through the original 80s/90s Universal Century media sooner rather than later.

Games:

Cozy Grove. Still. Hit the 90 day mark. Feel like this will be winding down soon.

Food:

Trying to cook at home more. Want to learn to make red sauce from scratch. Maybe I’ll look it up a Mark Bittman recipe unless someone has a better idea for me. Do I need a food mill? PATRONS, HELP!

Thanks for the Eurovangelists podcast recommendation, I'd been looking for a Eurovision podcast that spoke to me, and this is the one! I hope you enjoyed your Eurovision this year, Arnie, and that Foonovision is coming soon ;)

Ohhh I’d love to know what @Adal thought of TTPD album? I was just in Ireland like 6 months ago, and absolutely loved it! Here’s my recs: - Highly recommend spending a few days in Galway if you can! It’s a quick train ride from Dublin, super close to Cliffs of Moher. - Anair in Galway has an incredible tasting menu - https://www.aniarrestaurant.ie/. They do a lot of local and seasonal ingredients, and I thought it was really reasonably priced (especially compared to tasting menu places in Chicago). Very chill vibe, and very tasty. - Wild Atlantic Way has a great day trip tour bus that picks up in Galway and takes you to Cliffs of Moher. It stops at a couple little places along the way, including a lunch in Doolin, which was super cute. Touristy, but highly recommend!! Great way to see some country side without having to drive yourself.
