Even when I greeted Kiella and walked with her into the village, along with her attendants, I could hardly believe what I was seeing. Her appearance had changed so much that it was almost impossible to recognize her.

 “Hello, my lord!”

“Nice to meet you.”

“Oh my, lord Kiella! Thank you so much for helping me yesterday!”

“It’s only natural. I am a lord after all. Nothing unusual happened last night, right?”

“Of course not. It was all thanks to you, Lord Kiella!”

As soon as they saw her, the village elves gave their lord a hearty greeting. Kiella's face was pleasant and kind in response.

Everything seemed to be calm, like a typical village life. Nevertheless, I never got over the uneasiness I had experienced since our first encounter.

To be honest, Kiella never acted like a savage animal towards other elves. She wouldn't have survived in the royal castle where she used to reside if she had.

She wasn't always this amiable, though. She had never engaged in such conversation with other elves before.

She wouldn't have even acknowledged those around her if it had happened earlier.

The lord's house appeared rather modest, possibly due to the small size of the village itself. It was only a few times bigger than the houses of the villagers.

It had nothing in common with the opulent mansions or imposing castles typically associated with nobility.

Nevertheless, I remained vigilant.

In the comfort of one's own home, one's true self is more likely to be exposed, regardless of how well one hides behind a mask.

"I appreciate you coming. You can go back and relax since there isn't any more work to be done today.

Kiella waved the servants away amicably.
