After getting off the Ferris wheel, Daehyuk and Heeyeon traveled by car.
While sitting inside, she was staring blankly out the window in a daze.
Unlike before, Daehyuk didn’t ask her anything and simply waited silently for her to speak first.
Eventually, still gazing outside, Heeyeon opened her mouth.
“Director.”
“Yes, Heeyeon.”
“I… Is it true that you like me?”
“Of course.”
“Then can you tell me you like me now?”
“I like you, Heeyeon.”
He responded without hesitation to her request.
Hearing those words, Heeyeon clenched her fists tightly.
Being told that someone liked her—she realized that she had never once heard Kim Jisan say those words before.
Even from her own parents, she had never heard, “I love you” or “I like you.”
Instead, whenever she achieved something like good grades, all they ever said was, “Yes, you did a good job.”
Heeyeon had been deeply affected by Jisan’s emotionless responses. And now, when Daehyuk asked how she was doing, that warmth stirred something inside her.
“… Thank you.”
Though nothing about what Daehyuk had done to her had changed, she now found herself able to honestly appreciate the affection he expressed.
They arrived at the apartment in the late afternoon, with about two hours remaining before dinner.
After parking in the lot, the two took the elevator together.
When it reached Daehyuk’s floor, she stepped out with him and entered his apartment.
She stood in the living room and looked around in a daze.
“It’s clean…”
“Well, most things are at the store. Cleaning is easy on my days off, so it doesn’t get that dirty, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then shall we go to the bedroom?”
Heeyeon quietly nodded to his question, noticing the sly smile on his face.
With a soft creak, the door opened, and they entered the bedroom.
‘This is the director’s room… There’s a TV here too.’
As she stood silently, glancing around, Daehyuk pulled out the camera he always brought to hotels.
“Heeyeon, shall we begin?”
‘Camera…’
While staring blankly at the camera, Heeyeon asked him, “Director, why are you always taking pictures with a camera?”
“That’s because I want to capture what we do together and watch it later. You know what? I think you are really cute when you are with me.”
“Hmmm…”
‘He said I was cute…’
“How… cute am I?”
“You’re so damn cute. Especially the last time we did it—you were absolutely adorable.”
‘Even love…’
Though he spoke casually, the way he complimented her now made Heeyeon’s heart flutter every time she heard words of affection.
“Director. Can I see it too?”
“Yes?”
“The video you filmed last time. I want to see it too.”
Heeyeon pointed to the wall-mounted TV in her bedroom.
“Can’t you see it that way?”
“You can see it. But why? I thought you wouldn’t want to watch it.”
“Okay, then let’s take a look together. Please wait a moment.”
Daehyuk brought the laptop from one of the bedrooms and walked over to the wall-mounted TV. He played the video that had been fully recorded on the camera, switched it to full screen, and connected the laptop to the TV.
The large screen lit up.
“Where should I start playing? If we begin from the start, it’ll be quite long.”
“Yes.”
He skipped to the part she asked for and began playing the video.
She wasn’t thinking clearly. She had given in to her emotions and could no longer control her impulses.
It was the kind of decision she might regret later, but at that moment, Heeyeon was in no state to reflect on reason or restraint.
That was why she pleaded for something more—something that could convince her fully.
“Prove that you like me more clearly than when you filmed that video.”
