A short interview to Coax
Added 2018-04-18 10:48:01 +0000 UTCRecently I answered a few questions for an interview to the DeviantArt group KinkTank: https://kinktank.deviantart.com
I don't have a curiouscat or other specific place to ask me questions, but feel free to do it here in Patreon or through any other channel.
----------
1. What's the inspiration for your kinky comics?
Coaxdreams: Mainly my fantasies and fetish porn. Anyway it's difficult for me not to see the human side even in sex stories. It shows as slice of life and funny situations...usually mixed with quite bizarre plots.
The commissions I do and the single illustrations in general are a good way to taste and explore different fetishes outside my good lifetime obsessions. If I enjoy them I can include them later in comics.
2. What's your art background?
Coaxdreams: I've been reading and making comics all my life...I have many fanzines I did as a child and teenager to prove it!
So my in comic/storytelling side I consider myself mostly self taught. Some artists who influence me the most are John Byrne, Moebius, Akira Torayama or Scott McCloud among many others. In the fetish field: Crepax, Saudelli, John Willie, Pichard, Jacobsen.
As a formal education I studied 3 years of animation (traditional Disney style, not 3D) and two or three short workshops of coloring.
3. Will there ever be any more Fetish Interviews comics?
Coaxdreams: No...Or very unlikely. Soon after I started I discovered the wonderful webcomic by Erika Moen Oh Joy Sex Toy that covers similar aims (not so fetish focused, though). Also each page of Fetish Interview demanded a lot of previous research job, reading blogs, asking permission to the authors, etc. And finally I get distracted by other projects.
4. What's your favorite kinks to portray in art and comics?
Coaxdreams: This one is easy: bondage, chubby girls, pet and ponygirls, wet shirts, gags, restraints of any kind (leather, straitjackets, metal) and sexy bdsm outfits.
5. Do you do everything for your comics yourself? You know, writing, art, coloring, lettering?
Coaxdreams: Yes. I do mostly everything by myself. I get some help with the coloring in the first steps (the flats). And I hire regularly a translator as english is not my language.
I have a few collaborations with writers. Nymphomaniac by Paco Cabezas (now a famous film and TV director!) and a few commissions. And the Fetish Interviews, of course (where I just select and cut).
Astaroth & Bernadette is a real unique exception among my comics as it is done side by side with Ioannes Ensis, art and story. Real 50%. We meet to write the dialogues, I sketch, he draws, I retouch... An interesting mixture.

I would also like to add a long answer to one of my clients...when they ask me for not erotic stuff or very far from my usual stuff (gore in this case). In any case, don't worry to ask.
Coax: Well, it's not like it is ilegal or that I can't draw it. Zombies and gore can be even trendy. It's simply that I don't like it. I'm an erotic artist and I like to draw sexy women. To spend so much time drawing blood and entrails, it's worse than disgusting for me, it's boring. I can draw all kind of things now and then if the story needs it or I needs money, but gore definitely is not my cup of tea. I won't show in my portfolio (I don't want more jobs like this) and probably I should raise my prices for it.

Any other question? :-)
