News. My plans for 2020.

A brief introduction of the present state of things...

Some days I feel a bit overwhelmed about my monthly schedule. First week: I've just finished my comic pages and I need to rest, but quite often there are people waiting I start with their commissions or side projects to work on. Second week: I usually have lots of drawings to do (commissions and the patreon requests) and also I have to start working on the pages, the sketches and the dialogues (so I can sent them ahead of time to the translator). Third week: I'm focused on the pages, one finished inked page per day. Fourth week: Coloring and lettering, that's about 3 days. Back to the start again.

To my main duties of comic pages and drawings I have to add time to work in side projects and a few days off town, because my girlfriend lives in another city.

Lately I've been barely active and promoting my artwork in social media, because posting means more people discovering me. Yes, it increase my comic sales and hopefully I get some new patrons, but it also implies marketing duties (upload, tags, comments) and more commissions queries. I can barely do 4-5 commissions per month. And I don't like to have people waiting for weeks.

I don't want to sound like whining. I'm really grateful for make a living of my art and comics, I just have to learn to manage my priorities, to delegate in asistants and think in the long term.

So here are my plans for 2020...

Well, and outside work my goals are to spend more time with my girlfriend, compose music again and reduce the amount of sugar in my diet.

A side note about the new comic series... Long stories are somewhat easier to do, because you plan long in advance. Once you have designed the main characters and created the world and you start, then it becomes very easy to keep going. I barely think, new scenes and plots come easily, and I can bundle new issues as soon as a new chapter is finished.

In the bad side it is they can become boring over time. It happens when I'm drawing plots and scenes that I planned long time ago. So they are not fresh for me. I'll try to overcome this problem including short stories now and then, but also not writing detailed scripts in advance. So I know where I want my characters to go, but I decide the scene details on the fly.

That's all I want you to know!

Now let's see how the 2020 year progress!
