A lot of the goons weren’t interviewed but the ones that were interviewed are the behind the scenes people that played such a huge part anyway. Flowdan has won a Grammy. Manga is one of the most consistent grime MCs and he’s very respected. The DJs in this are also goons. And the MCs that are part of this are not to be underestimated

Durrty doogz is the guy that washed Wiley. He’s the blackballed goat in grime. You’ll see if you react to him how deep he is

Alex

When I originally watched this and saw no Chip, I literally messaged him straight after about it because I was heated Stormzy & Tinie Tempah got mentions but not him lol.

Kallz

That GRM 4 part documentary series Together We Rise was really good and worth recommending, covering a bit of Grime history too 👍

Kat

Wiley’s Eskimo beat is the one that crystallised Grime. Iconic. Check it out. No one had heard anything like it at the time, and everyone wanted to spit on it. 🔥🔥🔥

Kat

Not only chip but missed whole Birmingham scene aswell 🤷‍♂️

GamerGangUK

the nasty crew and roll deep even the channel u stuff was rushed so much there is a 1hr doc i watched on channel u alone but i did agree with one part of the doc the advent of youtube and grm sbtv etc saved grime as everywhere else was getting shutdown and the internet had no rules

Nates

Grime was always underground, it NEVER got played on mainstream radio, all the award shows ignored it untill probably Stormzy’s rise in 2015. Dizzee was very successful but mainly off pop, same went for Chip and Kano. Like man said grime died and came back at least 3 times. People can say what they want about Stormzy, but he changed the Grime scene landscape in 2015 and took it to the masses. He was part of the newer grime generation with AJ Tracey etc

SK

Not just Chip, They missed out 90% of Grime history, and the some of the biggest moments in the scene. Kano was the biggest success story in Grime besides dizzee them times. No history on Narstie Crew either, Kano and Ghetts were in the crew at the same time and left after Marcus Nasty (who was like the suge knight in the grime scene) tried to set up Kano, but yeah politics

SK

Not sure if it was a budget thing but they only interviewed the small grime artists

SK

Then if you pass on the other episodes, this UK Funky remix is for Jay https://youtu.be/G0c8qfMbMac?si=TNR4yyKjyg5uewQo it was huge in UK long before One Dance.

What, grime being political? surely not 😅 I don't think I've found a perfect docu series yet, but this one does give you a feeling for the culture around grime, (garage, jungle) without going in-depth, so you aren't totally lost when you react to the early sets/freestyles/clashes. I agree there could have been a couple anecdotes cut and other more important ones added!

J Lucie

How does grime mc’s and producers saying grime can’t be dead if they’re still doing it not mean anything? Makes perfect sense. It has dips + highs but how can it be dead if people never stopped doing it and having success, there’s always a new wave of sick MCs coming through and big MCs are jumping on sets + cyphers again

B

They’ve mixed up eras here because The Movement clips they showed saying they kept grime going in the pop era were from before (05-08) the pop era and Wretch was one of the most successful in the pop era (08-12) at making pop music. The biggest grime mc’s who never switched up and stopped making grime music were probably JME and P Money
