A Third Salt Video?

Hey everyone, as mentioned at the end of my last video, my next video is a more detailed look at what about our physiology makes low salt a burden on the body. There's a big number of effects that result from eating low salt - too many to fit in one more video.

So, this time I'm going to focus on something called the renin angiotensin aldosterone system and natriuretic peptides. [SPOILER: The RAAS is stimulated when you have low salt & stimulation of the RAAS is known to... increase blood pressure. People are actually given drugs that inhibit the action of the RAAS for treatment of hypertension. Natriuretic peptides are stimulated when you take *more* salt, and something called atrial natriuretic peptide has recently been approved in Japan for the treatment of... heart failure.]

But there's still a bunch of interesting things like:
-How low salt hogs energy leading to chronic fatigue syndrome
-How low salt increases heart rate (which is potentially more detrimental to the heart than high blood pressure)
-How low salt inhibits body and brain growth
-How low salt exacerbates insulin resistance

So, I'm curious how y'all feel about a third salt video? [The second one is coming up soon in any case :) ]

Comments

Ditto @Eitan. I've loved the salt videos. Super interesting

I'm very interested in as much info as possible on salt and electrolytes in the context of LCHF and ketogenic lifestyles.
