Off to LA (Yet Again)

I'm not totally comfortable in my intellect to dive deep into your post, but I will say this. Our country is facing a big issue where no one looks out for others. I believe it was Noam Chomsky in the Netflix documentary "Requiem for the American Dream" who said we no longer have a sense of solidarity, meaning I will pay a little more in taxes so that the family across the street can send their kid to a good public school as an example. I believe the same can be said about our healthcare system in that we need to look out for those that can't not because of some political mandate, but because it is the right thing to do.

Hey Colin I have a question I would like to get your views on. To preface I am liberal in a social sense but like to think of myself as somewhat fiscally conservative. I am having a hard time, however, justifying not going to a single payer health care system due to my strong views on taking care of our weakest so that we may be our strongest. My question is, what damage will be done to us if we take a more socially liberal approach to our health care system, besides costing tax payers a little more? Shouldn't we prioritize our citizen's health and well being? Isn't the wage gap/shrinking of the middle class a direct result of NOT taking care of our weakest? As always, great work.

I agree, the point I'm trying to make is that it's an unfortunate reality but security is necessary. The TSA is not violating the fourth amendment due to the fact search is required to board the plane, no one is forcing you to board the plane. A nightclub/concert NFL/sports has metal detectors rules of what you can and can't bring in and you are subject to search by just entering these venues. You can chose not to go if you feel your rights are being violated. The TSA does not need probable cause or even reasonable suspicion because when you purchase a ticket you know what rules and regulations there are.

I think that's a fair point that airlines are private companies however that doesn't take into account the safety of people on the ground who didn't sign any waver and would theoretically be in danger during a terrorist attack. In order for security on airplanes to be privatized they would still need to adhere to strict government guidelines for the safety of other civilians, altgough this wouldn't be to bad of a compromise I suppose

I'd like to know if you would let the airlines provide security being it's their planes, staff ect. Would it be more or less invasive? You are not forced to fly, it is a service so in my opinion there is no violation of the fourth amendment, you agree to the rules when you purchase a ticket. The fact I don't like is that it is government agents performing the searches. That being said if a privet security person recovers a gun, bomb, etc they would have to call federal law enforcement anyway.

Dear Colin, Wanted to respond to your post yesterday. However not without speaking to my Good Friend Youness. He is a rookie UFC fighter with One fight and one win under his name. Got to start somewhere. He is a co-worker and my friend. He is also a devout Muslim. I however am not. But he is very honest and open minded! So we had a bit of a discussion. Frankly it started with me mentioning the London attack. Both he and I pray for those affected. I furthered the discussion with a question. When you attend your Mosque on Friday, Will you talk about this subject? I had a feeling he would say yes. And I was right. The Imam would say prayer for the victims of such acts, as well as read from the Quran speaking out against these acts. I pretty much expected this as such. We continued to have a wonderful conversation! I know this isn't a challenging debate or even such as one of thought provoking. My point really is that of encouraging and open-minded optimism! I had a question I wasn't afraid to ask. I wasn't afraid to receive....And also my friend wasnt afraid to answer! Thanks to you and all who may read this!
