Colin's Last Stand, Episode 14 (Audio)

Confederate Traitors Don't Deserve Respect!

Colin's Last Stand, Episode 14 (Audio)

Comments

Anyone complicit in the fall of the economy in literal and tangible ways should have been tried. Nonetheless, that ship has sailed.

Thank you for listening. Stay safe on that bike. =)

Colin Moriarty

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the episode.

Nice episode. Didn't know anything about this until now. Interesting. However, it reminds me of the economy crash back in 2007-2008. The people "responsible" for this didn't receive any punishments, meanwhile thousands of Americans lost their homes. I believe that the bankers on Island did get punished and ended up in jail, but a lot of the bankers in the US are still out and about, living fancy lives... I obviously don't remember the details here, but would you be interested in making an episode about this in the future? Maybe?

Maybe to the they just wave the flag to show they're different and not thinking too hard about what the rest of the world sees. Britain is a very tribal place and we are very proud of the tiny little villages that we're from, but when those pesky French and Germans kick off (football) we all come together to unite our patriotism.

Great listen on my motorbike ride to work. As a Brit that's been to Florida I think I understand the southerners. They're different than the North and they want to celebrate that. I just wish they found a new way because holding on to a racist movement isn't the way.

First off, this is in my opinion the best episode of Colin's Last Stand so far in terms of content and audio. I am in the minority that prefers the audio release, because I love listening while at work! (I am a custodian so these are a Godsend) In the episode Colin mentions that this was all about preserving racism when you boil it down, yet he said that he didn't believe a person with a Confederate flag in the front yard was necessarily a racist. Having lived in Texas for two years I am no stranger to seeing these flags waved proudly all over the state. Which by the way, is a wonderful place full of history. My question is, if the Confederate flag truly resembles racism, how can we view those that wave it as anything else but supporters of racism? My assumption is that a large percentage of the people waving this flag, perhaps don't know what it represents. Thanks to this episode, I will never be able to look at it as "Southern Pride" again.

Another great episode. I was born on Long Island (Glen Cove) but raised from a young age in Georgia to parents both from Long Island. It was always interesting to hear teachers rationalize and defend the south in the Civil War (yes, it really happens to some extent), but I share your sentiments. These men were traitors and shouldn't be cherished in the way that they are by some people here in the south.
