I predicted Cuban would win last November. I really don't know what I'm talking about, but it certainly seemed possible after watching people latch onto Trump.

Agreed. Not sure he is a valid candidate in that he likely wouldn't be but flashy story. I just think he at least might attempt a run at it given what I heard at the conference.

Would be super interesting how that all went down, particularly because to run, he'd likely have to divest completely (or at least go silent). Facebook would then have to have some sort of complete neutrality.

Warren definitely has her Achilles Heel, for sure, but she shares those with much of the progressive base. The left needs to fix its deficiencies if it wants to win easily.

Bloomberg and Romney are both interesting from an Independent and Republican lens, respectively, though I agree with the wisdom that states they had their openings in 2016. Romney, specifically, took such a beating in 2012 that I doubt he wants to subject his family to the circus again.

I think I explained this in a previous post, but lapel mics aren't good if the room isn't well treated. My studio has some muffling now, but the sound quality will be (and is) far better with this mic setup than a lapel mic.

I like Elizabeth Warren when she is fighting corruption re: banks/Wall Street/big Pharma. I don't like Elizabeth Warren because she swings too far left on social issues &amp; doesn't stand up to the hypocrisy in her own party. She can come off sounding like the nutty professor. I'm a former Democrat. Obama turned me into a Independent. I can't support anyone who supports I.D politics &amp; the far-left ideology. I can't support anyone who put the rights pf illegal immigrants (especially criminals) before American Citizens. I can't support anyone who wants a "global Trade deal" that further sacrifices the American worker.

I could definitely see Sasse positioning himself for 2020, but Ryan seems reluctant to run, as he was basically forced into his current position by the party.

I agree that the surest options are Warren, and to a lesser extent Biden, as the only real leaders in the DNC at the moment, and Kasich, who probably looks really good to a lot of people in hindsight. Totally agree that Cuban would probably perform well, but am skeptical that he actually wants to run. Same deal with Johnson, but with less appeal to more politically minded voters. The two people I'm interested in as dark horses are Bloomberg and Romney. I initially thought that if they were going to run, they would have made a move last year, but if 2020 is shaping up the way it looks to be, waiting till then rather than making a late entry in 2016 might have been the right move. Both have moderate appeal, a wealth of experience, and pull in key states (though that might not matter as both states are definitively blue). Colin is certainly more familiar with Bloomberg than me, but as a Bostonian, Romney is especially interesting as someone who can bring back the Republicans that Trump drove away, without alienating too much of the further ends of the right. He also has experience with healthcare and has shown that he can play the game, after governing a place as liberal as Massachusetts. Other than being a definite Washington insider, I think he's a realistic option against anyone who isn't named Barack Obama.

First, your new setup is great! I am not one of the folks who bothered to try and give you advice on camera angles and audio quality after each video as I thought the content really held its own, but I do have to say ya done good kid. I have thought since Obama took the oath the first time that Michelle was going to run at some point. 2020 makes the most sense to me given how Trumps performing right now. I think that will cause many people to retreat back to a familiar face, and I think she is more likable than any of the other D candidates. She has all of the tenacity of Sarah Palin, while not being crazy, no family baggage, and has the smile of a Disney princess. I think Trump will run again, if his approval rating goes up at all. I don't think he has the ability to realize he has already lost. If he does get primaried, I think the R candidate coming out of that will be Paul Ryan, because I think he will lead the tax reform bill and the Republicans will be much more unified on that bill than healthcare. Totally agree the independent pool will be a much higher weight class than usual. I was thinking Cuban was a lock, and maybe Bill Gates as he would be in a similar position as Cuban, but with more experience with global matters. My dark horse is Bill Nye. I saw him at as the keynote speaker at a software conference I attended and he paused his speech to rant about politics and climate change the day after Trump was elected. He has all the same likability as the Rock and is well educated and passionate about a major topic. He also is a great debater and is entertaining.

Out of the three Democrats Warren seems to be the best choice to reunite the party (and in my opinion she would make a great president). I just don't know whether she actually wants to run or not and my feeling is she doesen't. Nice seeing you experimenting with the camera and the microphone, I'm sure you already considered it but I still wanna suggest you a clip microphone, I think it's a great compromise between audio and image quality.

Hi Colin, great video! I actually showed my younger sister this video because she heard it playing and was curious about the 2020 election. What do you think about Kirsten Gillibrand running, the minority Democrat senator from NY? I've read that she's been having meetings, she's opposed Trump vocally and always rejected his cabinet nominees even when Schumer approved, and I am personally aware that she's been meeting with NYC residents to ask what they'd like to see opposed with regards to Trump. I don't think she'll win the primary, but I wouldn't be surprised to see her doing it to gain notoriety.

I honestly think the Dem ticket will be Tulsi Gabbard with Gavin Newsom (VP) and I didn't see either of those names in your list. She's a veteran with an actual overseas deployment (she didn't have "a foot thing"). She very publicly resigned her vice chair of the DNC because of their unhanded actions against Bernie Sanders, which earns her cred for standing by her principles instead of riding the party line and for supporting Bernie, who's influence will still be felt in 2020. I think Gavin Newsom is the VP because he's a straight, white, Catholic male to balance out that she's a multiracial, Hindi woman.

I think Austin Petersen will be there as well. He is running as a Republican for a 2018 Senate seat, but I think he will be the Libertarian candidate in 2020.

I'd add Rand Paul to that. He hasn't made much of an impact on the primaries so far but with the current lack of credible leading figures in the republican party right now, he is standing out more and more. If there is a republican primary, I predict he will stand, get a much larger share of the vote than previous years but most likely not be successful. Like his dad, I think he's happy to play the long game and get the libertarian message out there. He may well be president at some point in his life. Another great video, thanks Colin.
