Side Quest, Episode 4: Ranking the 10 Biggest Announcements From The Game Awards 2017 and PSX '17

Red Dead 2 is gonna be awesome. I can feel it!

Colin Moriarty

I am really looking forward to Red dead 2 and also campo Santos new game in the valley of kings. I really enjoyed firewatch up until the end which was a let down. I am hoping they really nail it this time. Also enjoying the shows for side quest. I personally would enjoy hearing what you are playing currently sometimes and also what games you might recommend from time to time that are games off the beaten path that maybe not all of us have heard of that you might have played or are playing. Thanks as always Colin.

Eric S

Y'know, people say that, but I'm not sure I agree. I was playing a ton of games the last year I was at KF -- far more than Greg and Tim -- but I felt like the content I was doing outside of CWR wasn't really meaningful, or what I wanted to do. I dunno. It's complicated. I think my passivity towards the end there was more a lack of enthusiasm for most everything I had to do surrounding games, but certainly not the games themselves.

Colin Moriarty

Great to see you energised about talking games again... There were moments at the tail end of KF where u seemed to be labouring through things, so know that your loyal community will always have your back. It's so refreshing have your perspective and insight back which has been truly missed in games coverage. Love your work and the ad free approach is quality. Enjoy the break and I look forward to an Epic 2018 of CLS

Tony Colton

Thanks. =)

Colin Moriarty

I'd play more PSVR if it wasn't such a fucking mess when you put it together and connect it to your console and TV. Too many wires. It looks so inelegant in my living room, so it lives in the closet.

Colin Moriarty

I played it for about 50 hours late in the summer and into the fall. Loved it.

Colin Moriarty

We shall see! I'll once again state that I have no idea why people are connecting From Software to Tenchu (Tenchu was Acquire's baby), but the rumors must come from somewhere.

Colin Moriarty

I'll see you in court.

Colin Moriarty

Neither of those games were announced for the first time, so they didn't make the cut.

Colin Moriarty

Nah. Kingdom Hearts doesn't do it for me. Many other games to dedicate my time to.

Colin Moriarty

I didn't want to just wedge Mega Man 11 in there, considering it wasn't at PSX or TGA.

Colin Moriarty

You're very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to watch.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you! That's really kind of you to say.

Colin Moriarty

Thanks! I think my editing is getting better. I take pride in that. I'm working hard!

Colin Moriarty

Glad you liked the illustration. =) Of course I'm excited about Mega Man 11! It just wasn't revealed at PSX or TGA.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you! I figured it'd be a useful tool for those who weren't able to keep up with everything.

Colin Moriarty

=)

Colin Moriarty

That drawing was fantastic.

Daniel Navarro

Great video. Hasn't been following these shows as there are just too many but it was good to see what is coming up. Despite all the new stuff that I think will intrigue me as they get closer to launch, Wipeout VR is something that makes me want to play right now as I am slowly getting addicted to VR racing games (love Trackmania, Driveclub and Radical G VR racing).

Peter Campbell

So Colin, I think it's about time you take Bloodborne off the back burner and finally finish it. It is easily one of the best PS4 games.

ToastIX

Wow. As I was watching your video, I was starting to get worried that you weren't going to talk about From's new trailer. I was right there with you in thinking that it was Bloodborne 2. However, considering that this is a Sony property, I assumed that this teaser was going to be fully revealed during PSX. Seeing that there was no follow up announcement, I am now fairly confident that this is not going to be a Bloodborne sequel. What am certain of is that the tagline, "shadows die twice," is suggestive that this is a sequel of some sort. Tenchu?

ToastIX

Mind you, the sit down and discuss aspect of PSX wasn't bad, it's just bound to underwhelm as that's not what people have come to expect from this. The highlight was Cerny and House talking with Kojima which gave us some personal insight into the process of recruiting him to make Death Stranding. Also, Mark Cerny is just great. The guest hosts afterwards only served to annoy and fill time with lame jokes and poor questions.

The Rose Experience

It just wasn't the same without a PSX presser proper. I'm just one guy, but I'd prefer they stay out of Paris Games Week and leave their announcements for a PSX where the stage is entirely theirs. I liked the Soul Calibur VI announcement moreso because they did it with swag " Does your Soul still burn?" As a massive Kojima fan who's enjoyed the previous 2 Death Stranding trailers, I felt the latest was terrible. It was overly long, dragged, explained nothing and had much less Oooh and Aaah factor than the last 2, especially the one with Mads. Bottom line, WE NEED RELEASE DATES!

The Rose Experience

I mean, what's to be excited about except they're making a new game? Many, including me, jumped to the conclusion that it's Bloodborne 2 but there are Kanji in the background which may signify Tenchu. Ultimately, it's a big nothing.

The Rose Experience

Great job as usual Colin. I might have to charge you a copyright fee for stealing my version of Bayonetta, because my drawing is exactly the same.

strawhatninja

Honestly surprised no mention of Accounting+ or Death Stranding. I think those trailers definitely had the biggest impression on me of all the Game Awards stuff.

Evan Bederman

Colin, Did you ever play kingdom hearts? Are you excited for the true sequel?

Joey Finelli

Think I might be the only one who's response to the From Software announcement was "Meh." - I understand everyone loves them, and that they make great games, but we got a 15 second world premier with no title or content.. which in my opinion shouldn't be called a "world premier." - That being said one title you didn't mention it possibly being was Tenchu. Given the aesthetic I think it looks more like Tenchu than any of it's other titles. - I'm probably most excited about all of Bayonetta coming to Switch. I think it speaks to Nintendo trying to not make the Switch just a 1 year success with BOTW and Mario, and that they really are looking to the future of this system.

Owen

Great list! I actually missed some of these announcements so thank you! I would be lying if I wasn't hoping Megaman 11 wouldn't make a small cameo in your list, but it wasn't at either shows you covered so I won't hold it against ya :p keep em coming Colin! Thank you

Brock Thomas Walsh

Stick figures, comfy pjs, and good game coverage, this episode had it all! Thanks for another amazing Side Quest.

Such a refreshing take on announcements from this weekend. This podcast makes me whole again.

Great episode. Your video editing is seriously top notch. The one I feel was missed is the VR shooter Firewall. The Dev’s kept referencing back to the original Rainbow Six PC games, which are my favorite competitive shooter ever made, and have been gone since Ubisoft bought Redstorm, the original developers, so that they could own the Tom Clancy Brand.

Anthony Wright

The Bayonetta picture had me rolling. I would have thought you would also have been excited about Mega Man 11.

Alex Ball

This was great, I love new game releases/teases

Dav9834

Mmm, nerdy news. Love it. Keep the gaming love flowing good sir.
