Colin's Last Stand, Episode 58: Roy Moore's Loss Is a Win for Decency

What you believe is only one piece of the puzzle.

Colin's Last Stand, Episode 58: Roy Moore's Loss Is a Win for Decency

Listen: I think that public character assassination sucks, particularly for those that are innocent. There's no controlling it, though. It's going to happen. It'll continue to happen. And so you have to make decisions from within that paradigm. I think Roy Moore is likely to be a piece of shit, and so I go forward with that opinion in mind. Seems like many Alabama voters agreed.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you so much! I hope you do, too.

It's a tale as old as time: A party wins the center, has independents on board, and then alienates everyone by becoming too cocky and sure. I assume this will happen to Democrats, although I think it won't happen in full until the early 2020s.

Colin Moriarty

He was cleared, no? At least legally.

Colin Moriarty

Yikes.

Hey man, I just checked that site out and gotta say it's refreshing.

I imagine Colin you are well aware of the website Fivethirtyeight, but I kind of like a lot their coverage of American politics. I'm from Spain and while I follow your country's politics at close hand I only can rely on liberal media in the most part. And although biased, they do a good enough job for me. However, I think 538's coverage excels because they focus on quality polling and a more data heavy, non partisan, even empirical approach if you will, of politics. Prior to this special election they said that Doug Jones was a polling error away of winning it, so I think my point in this win: Is the country really changing? And would we be saying the same thing if Moore won by a percentage point as well? yeah Doug Jones won, but can it really be achieved of the scandal and a profound change of the American public? Or is it just an anomaly because the win was so narrow? Even so, please check these guys out if you don't know them, I find their far more poised take on politics refreshing for a change. Have a nice holiday man, see you in January! Greetings from Spain!!

I think I've said more times in the last month when being told by my Republican friends (I'm an independent btw) "What happened to innocent until proven guilty" that this ISN'T A COURT OF LAW. Why in the fuck would you vote for a guy who you think might be a scumbag other than the letter next to his name lol? -- Anyway good point about how piss poor a choice he was to begin with because it was a state where Democrats don't win. Give us a good candidate and we'll vote for them, not that hard.

A great last episode for 2017! Enjoy your holiday break!

What happens next is Dems win using more extreme candidates. Assume all these candidates won because their extreme views and not the real reason (no one can stand the extreme GOP). They win big time. Then no one likes them because they don't do anything, can't compromise, and are too extreme. At some point the GOP will win big again, probably with the next phase of extreme, uncompromising, politicians. It's just so easy to see this cycle continuing ad nauseam. Please tell me I'm wrong here.

CTE

Yeah, morality took a stand here. Let's see what happens with Bob Menendez.

Mmm, kids.
