Fireside Chats, Episode 29: One-on-One With Dave Rubin
Added 2018-03-20 16:01:00 +0000 UTCAs the moderator of the popular Rubin Report, a much-sought after public speaker and debate moderator, and a political firebrand, Dave Rubin is one of the busiest and most active people I've ever met. He's also a good friend of mine, and has been a tremendous force for good in my own development as a political personality, YouTuber, and podcaster. Today, Dave and I sit down for more than 100 minutes to chat about politics, about his show, about his personal life, his ups and downs, and much more. This is more than just a person interviewing another person. This is two friends chatting in a pretty intimate way. I hope you enjoy the results.
(We recorded this in Dave's studio one night, so the audio sounds a bit different than the rest of Fireside Chats' run, because they use lav mics. I just wanted to let y'all know in case you were curious why the sound was a bit different than usual.)

This is the first time where I have felt while listening that you finically had someone you could banter with who also is a veteran of hosting. I don’t want you to feel like I’m blowing smoke up your ass but in all seriousness this is yet another illustration of the C&G/GoG/PSILU vibe being fully realized on your channel, yet there is none of it remaining where you left behind. You get so much shit thrown at you, but I’d be willing to be that there are a very large amount of successful people that achieved it due to your vision. Keep pushing forward my friend. You are your own genre of talk show. It has nothing to do with your political identity from my viewpoint either. That’s not what makes your content unique. The creativity behind it is what makes it stand out. ✌🏻

I will certainly watch more of The Rubin Report. Rubin seems genuine, just like you Colin, and that quality is and will be very essentiel imo if you want to succed on the internet. People are tired of the bullshit.

I live in Denmark, so I am not well informed about US politics but I was entertained and enlighten the whole podcast. Dave seems like such a intelligent person, and this podcast actually made me watch a episode of his show.

2018-03-21 19:35:33 +0000 UTCJust finished this episode. Strong contender for the favorites list. Dave is such a genuine guy, he's always a pleasure to listen to. Hearing his thoughts on the 'typical gay' is so interesting. One of my best friends is a gay man, and he shares a good amount of Dave's feelings. He's even joked to me, saying "Dude I think I'm homophobic," which is his humorous way of saying that he finds the 'typical gay' to be irritating and attention seeking. I don't really feel that way, but hey, I'm not in his shoes. I think the 'fashion gays' and whatnot, more often than not, are hilarious. But maybe that's the issue, that people like my friend and Dave feel like, "You know, we're not all clowns." It was a super interesting road to go down, and I'm really glad you brought it there. Colin, I think we'd both agree that Dave may be the absolute best interviewer in the business, but don't let yourself believe for a second that you don't belong in the same conversation. Again, great episode. Can't wait for you to return to the Rubin Report in April. Have a good day!
