CLS: A Week in Review (March 23, 2018)
Added 2018-03-23 19:01:00 +0000 UTCHey All,
I hope this week’s update post finds you all very well!
For starters (and as you likely already know), this was a really big week in Colin’s Last Stand’s history, as CLS officially turned one! If you missed the celebratory post, you can read that here. Thank you all -- from the very bottom of my heart -- for taking this journey with me. What a ride!
Otherwise, content has been rolling on this week, as always, so if you missed what’s been going on, the links below may help!
Here are this week’s new shows!
Side Quest, Episode 16: Final Fantasy VII Remake (Audio)
Fireside Chats, Episode 19: One-on-One With Dave Rubin
KnockBack, Episode 6: When Anime Was Underground
In case you missed ‘em, here are last week’s new shows!
Side Quest, Episode 15: The 10 Remasters/Remakes We Need (Audio)
Fireside Chats, Episode 28: The Cryptocurrency Movement
KnockBack, Episode 5: We Love G.I. Joe (and Other ‘80s Toy Talk)
Other things you may care about…
Have you voted in the Side Quest Topic Election for March yet?
Have you voted in the KnockBack Topic Election for March yet?
Did you submit your question for March’s Q&A video? (I’m recording this soon!)
Have you seen Dagan’s awesome art at the $50+/month tier for March?
Additionally, you may have noticed that many CLS posts have been retroactively tagged, meaning that posts are now much more easily searchable here on Patreon. Not every post was tagged; just podcasts, videos, and other important things that are relevant forevermore, and not just in the moment. So, hopefully you'll all find that useful if you need to find older shows, et cetera.
Finally -- and I’m gonna have more information in next week’s post about exactly how this is going to go, but -- it looks like I’m going to miss an episode of Side Quest in early April, due to the nature of my travel to Philadelphia to record the next round of KnockBack episodes (and, if all goes according to plan, KnockBack Let’s Plays, too). I’ve been agonizing over the schedule, and I’m just not sure how I’m going to get an episode out the week of April 9th. Instead of doing something half-assed just to do it, which is not my style, I’m just gonna accept that I can’t do it at all.
So, what I’m thinking is that I’ll post Side Quest as usual this Monday, March 26th, and then, to make the wait between episodes a little easier (and to give me more breathing room as I get KnockBack pre-production stuff ready), I’m going to post the next episode of Side Quest on or around Wednesday, April 4th. From there, the next episode of Side Quest will post on April 16th. I apologize in advance for missing an episode (which will happen from time to time, of course), but I simply can’t manufacture more hours in the day to make it all work.
Otherwise, I've got nothing else to report! Let me know if there are any questions, comments, or concerns about anything at all in the comments below (or via Patreon DM), and I'll be sure to get back to you.
Have a fantastic weekend! -Colin

2018-03-30 19:51:32 +0000 UTCGood afternoon Colin, I don't have a Twitter so I don't where else to suggest a guest for "Fire Side Chats" , so maybe on this post it could be read. On a previous episode, you mentioned Leah B. Jackson. She'd be a great guest, I believe she works at Riot Games and is a former IGN-er.

2018-03-23 20:10:49 +0000 UTC1) I do have the slightest clue about production, because you've explained it before. Previously, it seemed to me like you could pull off an episode of Prime and an episode of Sidequest in one week. Also, I don't think it's very realistic of me to somehow see what kind of workload you can handle. This is just stuff I've observed in the past. 2) I don't prefer KF or CLS. I prefer them equally. 3) I don't want you to go back to KF. I want to make sure your show is better than it is. As everyone here does.

2018-03-23 20:01:36 +0000 UTC1.) "Two of your three shows/podcasts currently have no visual component to them. This is ludicrus [sic]." With respect, you gave away that you don't have the first -- as in, slightest -- clue about production, if you think it's ludicrous that one person puts out three original shows a week, in which only one has a visual component. I'm not sure what else to say about that, other than that you should probably educate yourself. 2.) "I still don't understand why you put CLS Prime aside. The entire premise of CLS was to be political. That's what the company's logo comes from." As I explained when I put the show on hiatus, it's because it was the only show not growing. When I launched Side Quest, 91% of the audience said that they wanted me to kill one CLS episode a week to make it happen. When I announced that I was going to elevate KnockBack, the audience (and Patreon) grew. I understand my business -- much better than you, at that -- and know where the name, logo, and everything came from. Did you hear the last three episodes of Fireside Chats? All political. 3.) "If gaming is what you want to do, and I mean this very sincerely, *go back to Kinda Funny*! They do what you're tangentally [sic] doing right now far better." While this is a perfectly subjective point of view, I don't agree whatsoever that they're doing better apples-to-apples content than I am. There is no analog to KnockBack or Side Quest there, so I'm not entirely sure why you're conjuring up that comparison. If you like their shows, that's great! I think that's awesome, and you should go watch them. It's weird that you think you can't watch both, or merely watch them and not me. But that's your choice. 4.) "If I want let's plays and talk about retro gaming, give me ten reasons why I can't go watch Kinda Funny. " I mean, I could give you 10 reasons you SHOULD watch Kinda Funny. It's not an either-or competition. You bring up retro gaming, which I specialize in and know far more about than anyone else at KF (and which is at the nexus of all things KnockBack), but if you disagree, that's great. Go watch their content. I won't be offended! 5.) "Why am I still here? Seriously." I have no idea. Don't be?
Colin Moriarty
2018-03-23 19:56:18 +0000 UTCYou, too.
John Nelson
2018-03-23 19:54:58 +0000 UTCYou don't sound like you're getting what you want here. The rest of us are. Don't know what to tell you. Have a good one.
Ian (616Entertainment)
2018-03-23 19:51:21 +0000 UTCI'm not sure we're gonna tease the LPs ahead of time (and we're still cobbling that list together). That said, I am gonna release the next wave of KnockBack topics next week, so we can solicit questions from the audience. So, standby!
Colin Moriarty
2018-03-23 19:44:42 +0000 UTCWhat gaming-related stuff is Colin doing that KF isn't doing? KF already talks about retro games. They already talk about toys. They already talk in an indulgent, nostalgic manner about it. They already do let's plays. They have twice, or even three times the rescources to do all of that. They have two to three times the staff and man power. They're more efficient. I don't like CLS going into gaming because I don't want to hear Colin talk about games. I want CLS because I KNOW he's more interesting. That's all.
John Nelson
2018-03-23 19:35:24 +0000 UTCAlso, KF and Colin are not doing the same thing. At all.
Ian (616Entertainment)
2018-03-23 19:30:41 +0000 UTCWhy are you still here? Leave, dude.
Ian (616Entertainment)
2018-03-23 19:23:50 +0000 UTCAny teasers as to the retro games you guys are going to play? I'd also love a rundown on Dagan's "gaming history" as it were.

2018-03-23 19:17:27 +0000 UTCTwo of your three shows/podcasts currently have no visual component to them. This is ludicrus. I still don't understand why you put CLS Prime aside. The entire premise of CLS was to be political. That's what the company's logo comes from. If you would like to lean off of political shows, you should do something to your company that communicates that better. If gaming is what you want to do, and I mean this very sincerely, *go back to Kinda Funny*! They do what you're tangentally doing right now far better. I was trying to make this more readable, but I just want you to make up your mind. If I want let's plays and talk about retro gaming, give me ten reasons why I can't go watch Kinda Funny. Why am I still here? Seriously.
