CLS: A Week in Review (April 13, 2018)
Added 2018-04-13 23:04:35 +0000 UTCHey Family,
I hope you all had a fantastic week, and are looking forward to the weekend. I don’t have a whole lot to report to you this week; I’ve been spending much of my time getting back into the swing of things, taking care of business-related issues, and playing God of War. (I’ll be heading to San Francisco for a few days in early May, and I’ve set up a couple of new Fireside Chats while I’m there, so there’s that to look forward to.)
Last things first: My God of War video review will be this upcoming week’s episode of Side Quest, so keep an eye out for that on Monday morning. (If you want my brief and preliminary thoughts in the meantime, you can see those here.) Next week will also see the very first CLS Let’s Play go live on YouTube (though it went live for some Patrons a few days ago).
Dagan and I intend on revealing this month’s mailable, one-of-a-kind art print next week, probably in the weekly wrap-up post, so you can also keep an eye out for that, if interested. (If you were slated to get last month’s bounty hunter print, you should have received it by now, as I mailed them out when I was in Philadelphia. If you didn’t receive yours, please reach out to me privately, and we'll figure it out.)
Here are this week’s new shows!
Fireside Chats, Episode 32: Social Media Takeover
KnockBack, Episode 9: Street Fighter II
KnockBack Let’s Play: Returning to Vietnam in Jackal (NES)
In case you missed ‘em, here are last week’s new shows!
Side Quest, Episode 18: Far Cry 5 and the Politics of Games Journalism (Audio)
Fireside Chats, Episode 31: Gushing Over Dogs With Ryan McCaffrey
KnockBack, Episode 8: The Greatest War Movies of All-Time
Other things you may care about…

That’s it for me! I hope you all have an awesome weekend. Thank you (as always) for your support; I’ll see you Monday. Yours, -Colin
P.S. In the coming weeks, I’m going to put together a brief survey for Patrons to fill out at their leisure. It’ll be totally optional, and something you should do if you want to have input into CLS’ trajectory (and provide feedback on what CLS already does) as the company continues to adjust, settle, and grow. (CLS Prime’s return will also be discussed in the survey, with a concrete plan on how I hope that will look.) More soon!

I cursorily followed it, but not very closely, honestly. Seemed like (yet another) example of the left eating its own because they don't fall lockstep into the orthodoxy, but maybe I'm wrong.

2018-04-16 17:00:42 +0000 UTCHeya Colin: was reminded about this when he appeared on Joy Reid over this weekend to talk about it... did you follow Killer Mike (Run The Jewels) being pilloried over his NRA interview video re: black gun ownership? Soooo many teachable moments in the way Mike and everyone else dealt with it constructively and otherwise (including his own creative partner w/ El-P's statement), some zombie hoard on display, etc. My first thought at the time was "huh, this story is totally on-brand for Colin, he should do a video on it!" Interesting story about multi-variate views, worth checking out for sure.

2018-04-14 17:54:50 +0000 UTCCLS Prime is a show I hold very near and dear to my heart. But it was also a show that I needed to rethink and retool. When it comes back, it's going to be far more sporadic, and far more targeted, and probably far more historical. I'm hoping to do maybe a few a year, but more along the lines of the Moon Base episode than, say, the Charlottesville episode. More soon.

2018-04-14 15:28:03 +0000 UTCThank you for doing the survey, and I appreciate that you've mentioned CLS Prime. I've been hideously critical of you for pushing that away, but I do realize how political Fireside Chats has been (I loved the crypto currency episode!). I'm just really bummed that the premise of CLS is largely political and you've even taken steps to indicate that in the branding, yet you spiral away from this and lean on topics with you're more familiar. This isn't surprising, and I will continue to support you for as long as I can. Even if you do become YT gamer extraordinare. Thanks for all you're doing, and keep up the good work.
