CLS: A Week in Review (April 06, 2018)

“Hi Guys!” -Dagan mimicking the YouTubers his daughter watches.

I hope you’re all doing great! I’m writing this from cold-and-windy Philadelphia, where snow is apparently incoming. Dagan and I are currently halfway through recording the next run of KnockBack (the picture above is my view of his office from the position I'm recording from and typing this from), and we’re having a great time. We're hoping to get to the Let's Plays on Sunday; we already have the games picked out and the Elgato hooked up and ready to go!

For those of you who like your podcasts on the longer side, you’ll be pleased to know that this new season of KnockBack is running, on average, far longer than the first batch: 01:57:46, 01:53:48, 01:21:16, 01:34:24, and 02:31:01 so far. Exciting!

Enough chatter, though! Here’s a rundown of the content you may have missed.

Here are this week’s new shows!

Side Quest, Episode 18: Far Cry 5 and the Politics of Games Journalism (Audio)

Fireside Chats, Episode 31: Gushing Over Dogs With Ryan McCaffrey

KnockBack, Episode 8: The Greatest War Movies of All-Time

In case you missed ‘em, here are last week’s new shows!

Side Quest, Episode 17: Ni No Kuni II Review (Audio)

Fireside Chats, Episode 30: Money, Managing Your Finances, and Building Wealth

KnockBack, Episode 7: The Most Underrated NES Games

Patreon-exclusive KnockBack (March, 2018): The Mighty Ducks Trilogy

March, 2018’s Q&A Video

Other things you may care about…

Have you submitted a topic in the Side Quest Primary Election for April?

Have you submitted a topic in the KnockBack Primary Election for April?

If you were at the $50+/month level last month, your art prints went out today (and one lucky person was also sent a custom painting by Dagan in lieu of the print), so keep an eye out! We’ll be introducing this month’s custom art as soon as this coming week; you'll know when we do!

In closing, you'll notice a bit of a difference in the public postings of KnockBack and Fireside Chats moving forward. Originally, I was posting KnockBack six days after Patrons get access, and Fireside Chats was posted three days after Patrons get access. Moving forward, both will be posted a week after. In other words, when Episode 10 of KnockBack goes live here on Patreon for $5+/month Patrons, Episode 9 will go live on the public feed, and so on and so forth. (This is why Fireside Chats Episode 31, which would typically be live for all by now, won't go free until Tuesday, April 10th, at which point Episode 32 will go live here on Patreon.)  Truth be told, this move simply allows me to keep things a little straighter on my schedule. Either way, no episodes are actually missing; we're simply readjusting the timing. If you've noticed, I apologize. All will be well starting next week!

I think that's it! I'm gonna get back to recording with Dagan, but we're both wishing you well. I hope you have a fantastic weekend, and I will see you next week for more CLS!

Sincerely, -Colin

P.S. Oh, one more thing. Remember the note from last week: There will be no Side Quest this coming Monday. The next episode of Side Quest will be the God of War review, and I'm hoping to hit embargo (which is Thursday), though I can't promise that. Gonna try my absolute hardest, but would rather have the review done right than fast. I'll have more details, one way or another, next week. But if I don't hit the Thursday embargo, I'll probably just hold it 'til Monday, April 16th.

OoOoOo a sneak-peek at "Leonardo!"

For the primaries, it seems like some posts are overrated than others. I try to vote as responsibly as I can by combing through all the submitted topics, voting for the ones I like, and trying to come up with one of my own that is dissimilar. The way the comments load and the way I do this process is time consuming and mildly onerus. I'm wondering if other voters are this meticulous. Maybe a different system than "hearting" can be used. Otherwise, please keep up the good work!

Also, those run times, fuck yea.

Can not wait for this upcoming season. Hope my questions were used! The let’s plays, man, super excited. Much love Colin, safe travels on the way back. Thanks for all the content.

Ian (616Entertainment)

Thank you for all the hard work. It baffles me that you produce all this stuff solo!

Scott Rabideau

I have no problem with the almost 2 hour run times. This podcast reminds me of the conversations my brothers and I have every time we’re together.
