Fireside Chats, Episode 41: A Naval Officer's Constitutional Love

Lieutenant Michael Autery is a US Naval officer, the host of the UNALIENABLE Podcast, and a man with a passion for all things liberty. In his military role, he's charged with defending and upholding the American Constitution at all costs, something that intrigued him so much that he became obsessive about the document, the men who wrote it, and the rights it bestows upon all Americans. I invited Lt. Autery to Santa Monica for a Fireside Chat not only on Constitutional adoration and a respect for the Bill of Rights, but to reflect on a time and place -- today, right now -- that seems hell-bent on stripping and diminishing some of those rights.

Fireside Chats, Episode 41: A Naval Officer's Constitutional Love

Comments

Hey, better late than never. Just like my response!

Colin Moriarty

It's my pleasure Isaac. Take care!

Mikey

I really appreciate your thoughtful response. I didn’t expect you to see and respond to my comment, but I’m very glad you did. I have family that has served in the Air Force and Navy, so I really enjoyed your conversation with Colin. I’ll be on the look out to see what your YouTube channel does from here on, after watching the comprehensive video you put out. Thanks again.

Hey Isaac. Drones I hate. The idea of replacing our fighting men and women with machines is a comfort to our mothers and fathers, but an utterly hateful idea to a warrior. With no existential risk, we're really just executioners. Maybe it's better. I can't deny the pros (pilots not dying), but it's still hateful to me. I'm not aware of indiscriminate long range artillery being used as a legitimate tactic. obviously I'd prefer DISCRIMINATE artillery. Collateral damage is a huge problem that we generally do everything in our power to avoid. We have extensive rules of engagement to reduce the chances but it still regrettably happens sometimes. I worry greatly about police state measures and the militarization of the police forces. I think there's more at stake than just lives. Police exist to make us feel safe, but never at the cost of making us feel unfree. if theyre out and about in full tactical kit with M4 Carbines, grenade launchers, and gun trucks, how is it comforting that "police" is written on their chest instead of "US Army." Btw I mean absolutely no disrespect to police. I just think they need to look like police. I think we should do everything practicable to save military lives but not at the cost of real life, on the ground, human decision making nor at the cost of our national honor.

Mikey

The World Cup has thrown off a lot of my time that is usually for your shows. A little late to the party, but this was a fantastic conversation. Loved it.

Colin, I’m just listening to this now, and I wish you’d asked him what he thinks of the United States recent move towards “non-military martial force” - such as drones, indiscriminate long-range artillery, and the DHS/CIA/NSAs militarization. I love this officer’s devotion to the Constitution, but it seems that the US is moving towards different military options through the guise of “preserving the lives of our soldiers.” These martial options seem to circumvent the troublesome paths that keep the honorable members of the US military in line. Just one thought as I was listening. Thanks for the great episode otherwise!

Isaac Cynova

Col, we listened to you and Lt. Autery o. our drive to the NJ shore. Larry was really tickled by your mention of him. Thank you. ❤️😉 and Lt. Autery, I’ve started listening to your podcasts and have subscribed. Very nicely done. Again, great to hear your voice regarding our country, etc. 👏🏻 And , yeah... I love my sons work and will follow him to the ends of the earth. 😉❤️

BettyAnn Moriarty

Oh my goodness! It's Colin's mom! I heard on the Rubin Report that you're Colin's biggest fan. :) Thank you so much for your support of our military, and please say thanks from me to my shipmate, Larry, for his service. It's my greatest honor to serve my country. I'm so glad you enjoyed our talk. I was blown away at how deep and fulfilling our conversation ended up being. I hope you like my podcast. I know your standards for fanhood are super high :P

Mikey

Omg! That's so nice of you to say. Thanks Chad! I worked really hard on it.

Mikey

Thanks, ma! I brought Larry up. =)

Colin Moriarty

I'm so pleased this episode resonated with you. Thank you for listening!

Colin Moriarty

I don't think the "left," as it were, has that kind of long game going on. I'm not even sure that's possible. What I do think is that there are a lot of anti-gun elements that know not what they do in this regard.

Colin Moriarty

Lt. Artery, first, thank you for your service to our country. I appreciate this more than words could ever express. I so enjoyed your chat with Colin. Nice to hear about honor, respect - and holding our freedoms dear. I’m going to listen to your podcasts. I have a feeling that they will resonate with both my (retired) Navy man and myself. 🇺🇸

BettyAnn Moriarty

You’re not ali e in your thoughts, Jason. It’s unnerving to feel that we can implode - destroy ourselves from within. I totally understand... and I too pray that this never happens.

BettyAnn Moriarty

Seriously so good guys. This is what it’s all about! I was so impressed I immediately went over and listened to Michaels podcasts on gun control. It is by far and away the best piece of material I have either heard, read, or watched on the subject matter. Michael I really really think your on to something with your podcast looking forward to watching it grow. Thank you both for this.

Chad Lewis

Thanks so much for your support Jason! We need more people who revere honor, duty, and discipline. I don't know how deep the rabbit hole goes, but I do believe our rights are under attack, and we have a duty to learn all we can and fight back through good faith, respectful debate.

Mikey

I love that you can disagree with me without maligning me or my intentions. It means a lot, and it's a concept almost completely missing from public discourse. Thank you for saying that.

Mikey

Wow! It's such an honor to hear that. That means a lot to me.

Mikey

Loved this one! Great topic and guest! I'm not a military man, but I have had several military friends over the years which I chalk up to my being military at heart (sense of honor, duty, discipline), so this discussion sounded very much like talking to one of my friends. Regarding the 2nd Amendment discussion: I don't want to sound like a loony nut, but sometimes I can't help but wonder if the leftist zeitgeist of gun control is an agenda (by whom I don't know) to change our minds over time so that we can be disarmed for a nefarious purpose. I know this line of thinking is crazy, but so many of the events of our time seem like a push for a culture war, a race war, a dismantling of our country from within like a giant old oak rotting from within. It still looks strong, but then one day the whole thing falls over. There's little evidence of any of that, just the feeling I have in my gut. I pray I'm wrong. Keep up the good work Colin! Thank you for your service Lt. Autery!

Jason Stafford

Thank you so much!

Colin Moriarty

Oh, I'm working on some very eclectic topics. Stay tuned. =)

Colin Moriarty

This episode was absolutely brilliant, probably my favourite fireside chat yet!

Ryan Taylor

What a great podcast!!!! Although I disagree 100% with the Lieutenant about Robert E Lee, we can still live and talk peacefully about what unites us. I'm looking forward for a podcast about immigrating to America. I see there are a lot of things people believe about us, our rights, and the whole process of becoming part of this great country that people get it wrong based on what people on the media and politicians say as "true".

Lucas Gremista

You got it, my dude! You're welcome back anytime.

Colin Moriarty

Thanks for having me Colin! Amazing conversation. If anyone is interested, please check out Unalienable anywhere you get your podcasts. https://www.patreon.com/unalienable
