Patreon-Exclusive Sacred Symbols (October, 2018): Long Lost Letters

I marinated for a while on what the nature of this month's CLS Patreon-exclusive podcast should be. Should I use one of the episodes of Fireside Chats I'm sitting on? Perhaps it's time to get Ramon back in here for another exclusive KnockBack? Well, both of those things will eventually happen, but this month, I opted to go back to Sacred Symbols instead. Each Friday, I post a thread here on Patreon for $2+/month subs, so that they can submit their questions, comments, concerns, thoughts, and ideas for the next episode of the core show. Thing is, I get so many submissions that I can't use all of them. So I combed over the last five Sacred Symbols comment threads and pulled 20 questions that I wasn't able to use the first time around, questions that still warrant an answer from yours truly. I hope you enjoy.

My comment was read! Made my week! <3 :D

MostAbe

I'm glad to hear it. Thanks for listening!

Colin Moriarty

I loved this solo episode <3

Petre Cismigiu

Damn That's cold.

There’s No I in LLC

Sony has ignored all of my interview requests to date.

Colin Moriarty

So is there any chance of getting Cory Barlog? I realize you maye have already reached out.

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/127628/mexican-tinga/ give this a try sometime its quite amazing

Matthew Clarkson

If only I had the time! You can expect one of these rotated into the exclusives every few months (at the very least), though!

Colin Moriarty

I read (and respond to) every single comment, so you can count on me seeing this. =D Thank you for your kind words and support. I'm glad CLS' array of podcasts is resonating more and more with people. It's awesome.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you for your feedback! With Chris and I doubling-up next week for our RDR2-exclusive episode, I didn't want to bother him with doing double episodes twice in three weeks. I want the show to be low impact for him.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you for your kind words (and your support!).

Colin Moriarty

Yeah, I'm for sure gonna integrate Fireside Chats and KnockBack back in moving forward. I don't want exclusives to just be Sacred Symbols.

Colin Moriarty

Yeah, Final Fantasy XV represents a strange dichotomy between critical reception and commercial reception. The latter is vital, but I'm positive Square Enix didn't ignore the former.

Colin Moriarty

You're ignoring the trade-off. As an example, a triple-A game in 1991 was something like Final Fantasy IV on SNES, which took a team of a dozen a year or so to make. Total investment, including marketing, was probably in the couple of millions. Today, a triple-A game can take a team of 250 five years. And yeah, they may sell five million copies, but they're doing so at a lower rate in real value, which much higher backend cost. This is a complicated issue, indeed.

Colin Moriarty

For this past round of tacos, I went and bought a rotisserie chicken, and used that meat in flour tortillas with salsa, onions, avocado, and cheese.

Colin Moriarty

Thanks, ma! Love you. <3

Colin Moriarty

Thank you for your kind words, Will! MTGA.

Colin Moriarty

That would be great, The more, the merrier!... though I'm going to continue to feel bad that I can't integrate everyone's questions.

Colin Moriarty

See, I like some monologue podcasts, and other podcasts I enjoy because of the rapport the various hosts have with one another. So I'm happy to take influence with both, and I'm glad to hear that portions of my audience are on board for both, too.

Colin Moriarty

Thanks for your feedback, Nate! I'm glad you enjoyed.

Colin Moriarty

Duly noted. Thank you for listening!

Colin Moriarty

And I appreciate you!

Colin Moriarty

What about Cousin Jaromir?

Colin Moriarty

i kinda liked this as a solo extra show. it would be nice to have one or two of these a month. it had a more relaxed feel, similar to a saturday morning sports radio show. good shit fam.

James Spychalsky

I just wanted to say, even if it might go under your radar, I know you have a lot going on and I don't know if you will read this; but I absolutely love that you have gone out on your own with your podcasts. You are without a doubt my favorite entertainment personality, I hope this venture of yours never dies, I've tried to keep up with kindoffunny but lost any kind of cohesive, impactful conversation umogst them. I've followed you since the beyond days and I'm flabbergasted he hasn't tried to reconcile with you. And as you you said your nonpartisan on the matter, with which I understand. I love your content man, you remind me of my best friend growing up, your so knowledgeable and inspiring and I'll always support you. I'm sorry if my grammar and writing is terrible, keep it up man and just know we are many and we will always support you, MUCH LOVE Ryan xoxo

El0

Loved that the exclusive episode was another Sacred Symbols! Not a knock against you Colin, obviously am a fan, but Chris's input was missed in this one. This is definitely a two man show

Mitch G

Loved this special ep. I always enjoy hearing you answer questions generally Colin. Always interesting to hear your thoughts and insights. Thanks

Josh in Tampa

Loved the exclusive Colin! I like that this can be a way to answer questions that get missed. This would work well in a rotation with a KnockBack, and Fireside chats exclusives. So maybe one of each a quarter. Just a thought. But your doing great!

Jeshua Anderson

This is great idea for Patreon exclusive episodes. Also just wanted to say. A Final Fantasy done in the same breath as Dragon Quest 11 would be the way to go for them. Although FFXV sold really well it wasn't received really well by fans at all. Thanks Colin.

Andrew

Great episode! But on the topic of game prices I feel that although you might be right about prices going up, you might also be oversimplifing the issue a little. Games are more popular I assume then ever before and more are selling high ammounts of copies, copies that cost far less to produce. so would a lower price selling more units and making more money overall, while appealing to a broader audience at lower prices contribute to this discrepancy in the price adjusted for inflation? Though I admit game production does cost more and I'm not sure which is more significant.

John Prince

What kind of tacos do you make ? My wife makes like 30 but she puts one scoop of ground beef in each it’s quite annoying it’s basicly just lettuce and other add ons with a taste of meat

Matthew Clarkson

I love and appreciate this type of content, bud. It’s fun to hear the questions, thoughts and comments of the audience and then, to hear your responses to them. I, for one, hope you continue to do this. ❤️

BettyAnn Moriarty

Colin, your loyalty to your fans and audience is absolutely wonderful. This episode was fantastic and informative. I hope you keep doing episodes like this, since I think that it gives many of the supporters’ voices a chance to be heard. It is an honor/pleasure to hear your voice, optimism, and criticism in the gaming/PlayStation community. You are an inspiration to me and to many others. Thank you for making Tuesdays great again!

Will Hahn

This is a good idea and will probably encourage more people to submit questions.

Ivan Hornett

Enjoyed it very much Colin! I’m usually not one for enjoying monologue type podcasts, but this was excellent as always. I suppose it was still conversational since you were reading listener questions/comments, but id probably enjoy you speaking about anything (even alone). Thanks again for the great content, and like many others have expressed, more of these type exclusives would be a welcome addition to CLS in my opinion.

Ryan B.

Great episode, Colin! Would love to see you do this again in the future. It's a good way to bring up things that you couldn't in the regular show or re-visit old topics with new insight. Keep up the excellent work, sir.

Nate McKinney

What a great idea! I'd love to see this become a semi-regular thing. It goes to show how much time you spend looking over the comments. Thanks as always Mr. Moriarty.

Phillip Guglielmo

Awesome episode! Very cool that you went back at the questions you couldn't get to because of the gargantuan amount of questions sent in every week. Another thing that separates you from the herd as the best content creator out there. Appreciate you.

Marcus Brown

Uncle Mario approves

Ryan Lemieux

Thanks for the kind words, Tony. I appreciate you.

Colin Moriarty

This is awesome, Colin. Just another reason why I trumpet your podcast to every gaming Neanderthal I come across. Spreading CLS love is the best kind of love I can share with my fellow gaming friends. What did I ever do after you left Kinda Funny?! That was a dark period indeed.. lol Keep up the excellent work.

Tony Rivera

Glad to hear it! Thank you for your feedback.

Colin Moriarty

I'm glad my incredibly dumb and dry humor isn't lost on everyone. =D

Colin Moriarty

I like that you took the time to tell each and every person who had their question answered that Chris was absent, haha. I like this idea and I'd like to hear more of these in the future! Keep it up, Colin. 🤘

Jimmy Champane

This was an awesome end-of-the-week surprise! Clever and effective content. Love the idea.

Lucas Maliniak

That's very kind of you to say. <3

Colin Moriarty

This was a great idea. You continue to impress me Colin you have so many supporters because you think of great ideas like this!

strawhatninja

That's a possible solution, but I'm not crazy about the idea of having to use last-gen controllers on a current-gen console, especially if there's a vibrant and accessible marketplace for those old games. In other words, there's an additional price to entry.

Colin Moriarty

Thanks. <3

Colin Moriarty

Thank you!

Colin Moriarty

That new video was awesome.

Colin Moriarty

To be honest, without some sort of access and knowledge of devs and pubs -- which most people outside of media don't have -- your ability to do true journalism is a bit limited.

Colin Moriarty

LOL.

Colin Moriarty

It's a risk worth taking.

Colin Moriarty

You're very welcome. Thank you for your support.

Colin Moriarty

Enjoy!

Colin Moriarty

Most excellent! Safe travels.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you! I like centering as much as I can around community involvement. =)

Colin Moriarty

To comment on your first question, what if the solution to the touch pad issue is that Sony will allow the DS4 to be used on PS5, even if only for PS4 games? Sony has a history of supporting controllers across generational boundaries, and presumably the bluetooth tech won't change drastically enough to make that support unfeasible.

Travis Johnson

Really enjoyed the show and it's a great format for the exclusive podcasts , mind you I enjoy all your shows.

Garry

Definitely a great idea.

David Graham

Chris is still in the white empty advertiser friendly void

Tyson Williams

Tbh I don’t think video game journalism is really dead, I think it’s just moved from game websites to YouTube, channels like Superbunnyhop and some others have been doing some legit journalism for a while now. They’re certainly in the minority of video game commentators but they exist fortunately

Tyson Williams

i've enjoyed this but dont do it again... totally kidding do more.

Joey Finelli

I want a sacred symbols shirt that says keep sacrificing babies but I also don’t want to offend a bunch of strangers in the street on the rare occasion I leave my cave

Tyson Williams

Another awesome unexpected surprise. You're the gift that keeps on giving. Thanks for all your work!

Lockmort

Oh im excited!

Joey Finelli

You posted this at the perfect time! Just about to drive 45 minutes home! Viewer questions and those integrated into the news are my favorite aspect of SS. This is gonna be sweet!

Patric Bakies

Great concept for this month’s exclusive! Glad we get new content and can still use people’s questions and get the community involved.
