KnockBack, Episode 198: Kill Bill (Volume 2)
Added 2021-11-22 17:00:08 +0000 UTCEveryone knows that Kill Bill was originally intended as one epic-length film, but Miramax ultimately convinced writer and director Quentin Tarantino to do things their way. The result is a second installment that's quite different from its first. Depending on how you look at things, of course, that may be a good thing. 2004's Kill Bill: Volume 2 is a far less violent, far more cerebral offering that exchanges swordplay for dialogue, but the same themes transcend both films and remain at their beating heart: Revenge, rage, and love. Indeed, the two parts fit together kind of like Yin and Yang, a perhaps not-all-that-inappropriate reference considering the film's deep Asian-inspired roots. Can you survive the Five Point Palm-Exploding Heart Technique? Unlikely. Thankfully, though, it's quite safe to hit play, sit back, and listen.

I am way late to listening here and I have not read through all the comments, but if they truly do Kill Bill Vol. 3, any necessary flashbacks could be done in animated form to make up for the actors’ ages. That would mean someone else voicing Bill which may be off, but I think it could be done well.

2021-11-23 22:31:26 +0000 UTCI love QT films. Little extra touches about Pai Mei and Gorden Liu is Pai is a character in a few Kung films that trained a young Gordon Liu. Also Pai Mei is has some historical standing in Chinese Legend. One other fun Fact as you eventually get through more QT films is the Texas Sheriff Character is canon in Dusk Till Dawn, Deathproof and Planet Terror which he plays this same role. Fun listening guys. Take care.

2021-11-22 23:53:03 +0000 UTCIf you want to see one of Gordon Liu's best movies watch 8 Diagram Pole Fighter. It's really good. Also Fist of the White Lotus. Gordon Liu tries repeatedly tries to defeat Pai Mei, the character he plays in Kill Bill 2. He even has the palm strike but it's more than 5 steps in this movie. Pole Fighter is the better movie in my opinion though.
