Microsoft might lead the way in some ways due to them having an infinite amount of money but they haven’t made a single compelling new IP in over a decade. In terms of pushing gaming they are actually the worst, which is why IMO they are buying everyone else. It’s poor practise but money talks and they will push the industry none the less. Whether that’s in a good way or bad I suppose remains to be seen.

Microsoft is leading the industry in adding value and acquiring studios to try to make their product desirable. The thing to watch is how they follow up these initial steps.
